I would personally suggest the one that ACNCM.com makes. It is way better than stock.

I totally agree with the ACNCM head. I have one, and it made my 2.5 a reliable, easy to tune engine. I can't say this enough....The stock head is the pits.

I just got my ANNCM head in the mail today. I have to admit that it is much bigger than I anticipated (bigger is better, right). When I won it on E-Bay the president of the company e-mailed me to make sure he got the right address for me. Talk about great customer service.

ACNC makes nice stuff.

My complete maxx is ALL acnc aluminum. Only thing I need now are Aluminum diff cases.
Thats next on the list

When I went to put on my new head I wasn't sure how to do it, but another thread said just to take out the 5 screws. I gave it a quick try this morning, and the screws seemed too tight. I didn't want to break it or strip it, so i just wanted to confirm that that is what I want to do. I also heard that there is a shim under the head. Do I need a new one, or will the old one wwork again?

those screws are tight. i used my tmaxx glow plug wrench as a cheater to loosen mine.i also bought a pack of new shims from my lhs.(why use the old one new ones are cheap) they came in a pack of 3, each with a different thickness. i used the thinest one seemed to give it a little more power

The Revo style Powertune head for the 2.5R has some advantages over the aftermarket stuff. First, it requires no alterations to your body, roll bar or any accessories that would be normally compatible with a stock set up. Also, the head is a bit cheaper, but should work just as well as any aftermarket one. It has had great success on the Revo.

Nitrohouse.com and Hobbypeople.com both carry the head for 32.99 and 35.99 respectively. Traxxas retails it for 40.00 on their site.

On Edit:

poop, you got me motivated. Called the local 'Hobby People' and they have one in stock for the internet price. Now I can pick it up tomorrow and install for the T-Maxx's break-in Saturday (if it does not rain).

One more thing off of my T-Maxx upgrade list. I still am consideirng a new pipe. I like the Tsais side pipe, but I am worried it is all for show and no power gains, especially since it is a bit pricey. Maybe I will try the Traxxas upgrade first.

Nova cooling head here. They are great if you afraid the ACNCM won't fit into your cage. HCR Mutant head is great too, but it is expensive for me. However, they make nice product and I think it will worth it if you bash alot.

I second this. I was having a hellish time tuning my Picco P2 until I got my HUGE enormous cooling head. I'm running a rock solid 220° With an MC59 and Byrons 20%, haven't touched the needles in over a gallon. One of my buddies was having terrible trouble holding a tune with his stock 2.5 so I suggested the ACNCM cooling head and it's rock solid no, hold it's tune very well. If you can't find it on the site give Hisham a call, he's real easy to work with. I also have the chassis braces from them and they are top notch. Oh and it's inexpensive, $30 for the enormous head.

As far as fitting in the cage, there's no troubles with either of ours. The P2 head is even bigger than the TRX2.5 head from them and my only beef is that I had to rig up a protection system for the top of the head because it's so tall(I just used zip ties and it work GREAT, several times on it's back and chewed up zip ties but no scratches on the head, I can could only figure out how to keep it from flipping if I go into second gear at full throttle :D

Here's a the size difference from stock P2, to the P2 enormous head.
