i have a savage x and it's antenna is like 2 feet long if i cut it or put some of it down in the receiver box will it shorten my travel distance?

if you cut it you will lose most of your signal!!! evan an inch. the receiver is calibrated by the length of the antenna... but the antenna doesn't evan have to stick out of the body.. i thread it thru an 8'' tube. heat it up and bend it over like an "L".. so it fits under the shell.. just make sure you have bout an inch of wire sticking out.. you wont lose any reception, and it will never get ripped off the rig.. BUT DONT CUT IT!!

Mine was cut before i bought it from a friend. It was twisted back together. what should I do. I have not had trouble with distance and the response is pretty quick. it is cut just past the reciever box. again what should I do?

glad to help you basher.. dont mean to jump on this dudes thread, but i will..as far as the cut antenna. peacing it back together didnt work for me as well.. its an easy fix, but you have to do some phone work to get the specs.. you can try the manufacturer's costomer service and tech #. youl need the model # of your radio gear and they can give you the antenna length and specs.. it will be in centimeters and must be exact.. you can pic up spare wire at your hobby shop... it must be a specific gauge thow, so get that info as well.. just pop your reciever apart and de solder the conection.. i put on an extra long peace and measured it after soldering it back on.. make sure to be neat with your soldering couse there are cicuits that are close.. you shouldnt have a problem after that

pray.. pray that your rig doesn't sereously injure a small child at the park.. pray that your rig doesn't uncontrolably fly into on-coming trafic and couse an accedent.. pray that one day,, common sense will strike you..you can always spend $2 on wire.. just a thought..
