Antenna Wire.

On my Micro RS4 I want to hide my antenna wire under the body.
I have seen photos of the antenna wrapped around a notched rectangle of lexon and mounted to the top of the chassis.

Does anyone know if there is any hints or tips to doing this?

All the ones I have seen have a few things in common.
The wires seem to be wrapped at a 20-30 angle and about 1/8-1/4 inch apart. The mount seems to be secured at the front and at and slope up toward the rear of the car.

Distance with a micro isn't a big issue but I want to loose as little distance as possible.

Believe it or not the distance loss from this will not even be noticeable. Distance for transmission and reception is impacted more directly by antenna height and power out. Since the antennas in question are not changing (but maybe 3-4 inches in height) and the power characteristics are not changed by wrapping the receiver antenna, you don't need to worry about the distance loss at all.

As for how to wrap the antenna, there are a number of things one could talk about, but the answer that will make you the happiest is this: It really does not make much difference at all how you wrap it. Do not use something that might inhibit the reception of your receiver as a spindle for wrapping the antenna wire. A piece of plastic...good. DO NOT USE graphite for a spindle (this will F up your electronics like you read about).

As for spacing and angles on the windings, that is mostly aesthetic. Just make sure that the spindle you use will not put itself into any moving parts on impact or won't trail antenna wire into moving parts.

Hey ed here is the only thing I can find a pic of at the moment.

url You thread your wire around this and then out a hole at the end this is one option I have seen peps use.
The other is the one I like better it is pice of flat tube shapped like this and its essentially shrinkwrap you put your antenna in it and heat it and it seals it in place. Looking for pic now. X
