I was having trouble getting the whole wire to go through the antenna tube so I cut off about 3-4 inches off. Well I finally got the antenna through the tube but now I have excess at the top of the tube. Can I just wrap the excess wire around the antenna tube with electrical tape and will it hurt the range? OR do I need to get another tube?

You don't need a new tube. Instead of electical tape I would use some fuel tubing to hold it down. Thats what I do and it works fine!

Just to be sure we all know what you are saying, did you cut 3-4''s off of the wire or the tube? Hope it was the tube and not the wire!

I hold my extra wire by first wrapping it around the antenna tube in a downward spiral and hold it at the end with a rubber o-ring.

I cut the tub. I would never cut the wire. I think I'll wrap the excess wire down the tube and hold it at the end with electrical tape.

Here's a quick tip for next time.
Blast a shot of Windex into the tube, then the antenna wire will slide all the way through, without wrinkling up inside.

I use after run oil or WD40 (one drop in the tube). It went in smooth :D

you don't need to leave all your excess at the top of the tube either...you can pull a lot of it back into the RX box and wrap it up neatly (like audio cables) and then leave a little at the top..the more of it you leave sticking out, it is more vulnerable......I also use the fuel tube method for a little bit at the top...it keeps the end as it folds over the tube from getting mangeled when you flip and slide on the street

just add some lube into the tube next time.

If someone tock wire and added it to the other wire on the atenna and made a nice coilal will it incress the range?

A while back i rolled the maxx and it put a cut in the antenna wire. I re-soldered on a new antenna and got rid of the old one. The plastic casing on the new antenna wire was a bit bigger, and it was a pain to get on the tube. I strung some fishing wire through the tube, tied it on the end of the wire, then pulled it through. It worked great. Just an east way to get it in there for future refrence.
