I was driving my Revo today and noticed when I was doing my after care that my cap was gone from my antenna. Then I noticed that the tip of my antenna somehow got ripped off. What is the best thing to do for this problem?
 
i ripped peices off my tmaxx antenna alot!!! ripped it off in the middle alot too and just stripped both sides back a bit and twisted em together lol, always worked though....
 
Are you missing the top two inches or so of the wire? Receiver antennas are tuned to their frequency by the length of the wire. While you may not see a lot of signal loss it will be too late if you do and your rig runs off on you. My suggestion would be to replace the wire with a factory replacement.
 
or pick up a used rx from some where for cheap....
 
Or test your fail safe(you do have one right?) and see how far away you can get with out any problems. I lost 90% of the antenna on my Savage, but never had a problem in the range I drove in. Found and re-attached it when the snow melted though.
 
yeah just always make sure you have a fail safe installed on your nitros.
I've ripped off alot of antenna wires, i always ordered a direct replacement and resoldered it on to the Rx, or some manufacturers will know the size and length of the wire your specific Rx needs. so you can get your own wire and DIY. i know Futaba and AE have supplied me with that info when i called. call up yours and see what they say. its really an easy and cheap fix that IMO shouldnt be overlooked, especially if you dont run an fail safe.

As others have said, have a failsafe. As for your antenna, the wire length is matched to the frequency of your crystal. You can see how this is calculated at: http://www.tamiyaclub.com/tools.asp. If you've lost some antenna length, you can use that site to cut your antenna to a correct length for your frequency which will reduce frequency interference but bear in mind that your overall range will be less. You might as well just get a replacement, they're cheap :)
 
Re you talking about the antenna itself ot just the antenna tube ? If your talking about the antenna tube, then you can just take a piece of fuel tubing and put it between the two pieces and put it back together as one, not to mention it's more nimble(flimsy) that way and you won't really have to worry about breaking breaking it that easy again because it will bend better now whe it/you flip(s) it over.;):D

i use this method also, but i also use some heat shrink tubing which works great also
 
thanks for all the answers. i was actually talking about the antenna itself and not the tube.
