After running my savage x 4.6 - It seems to be running good and at the right temps when running, it is a bit hard to start without giving it some throttle.

Then once in a while, just after I start it again, I go to accellerate slowly & it it dies. I followed the slowchart & instructions, but I still get this condition.

Could this be the LSN adjustment ?

Thanks

I find with the big block motors unless they primed and warmed up they are going to need some throttle trim to start them. But remember easy does it. When you say, "I go to accelerate slowly & it dies." Is it bogging or is it just flaming out immediately?

Edit: This actually isn't a very "newbie" question. It a very common problem amongst many people because there are multiple causes of it.

Expect some warm up time before it runs at its' best.
If you have the same problem launching from a dead stop when it's up to temp, you'll need to make a slight adjustment on your LSN. It's most likely still too rich.

It just clicks & goes off - doesn't even start to accellerate.

What I'm going to do is go tomorrow to a parking lot, return all of the needles to the factory setting (flush) and start over. I think I need to do this because for the last few times I've had it out & I've always drawn a crowd of neighbors, friends, etc asking all kinds of questions. The only one that'll be around tomorrow with me is my friend Larry. He's into the nitro helis, and gasser trucks. So between him & I, we should be able to get it tuned in.

Time to watch the HPI set up video one last time (tuning section) ;) so it's fresh in my head for tomorrow.

Thanks,
Mike

Don't go back to factory settings unless you really think you screwed up bad. Nitro engines hate to be cold. Once they get warm they idle much better. i always start my engines with the vehicle off the ground, slightly rev it up for a few seconds in short bursts for a minute or two. Then I put it on the ground and drive it for at least 5 minutes before I adjust anything.
