OK...... I am still new to all of this.... This is my first RC nitro truck.....I usually fly 100+MPH brushless electric hotliners and gliders (still do...and would never give it up!).....but I thought I'd give nitro cars/trucks a try and got one for X-mas.... Well.....I'm HOOKED! :)

Thanks to this forum I got my front diff fixed and decided to take out reverse. I used theRobinson Racing forward only kit along with the RRP steel forward primary gear . I was amazed how much weight I saved by removing the reverse gear, clutch, servo etc......

When I got my T-maxx a few weeks ago I thought that reverse was an absolute must.....man was I wrong!

All I can say is WOW!! .......what a difference it made.....hitting the throttle and watching how smooth it takes off! No hesitation or jitter....just instant throttle when you need it!

Here's a few of the hop-ups that I've done:

RRP FOC kit
Kan 5 cell 2/3A NiMH reciever pack
Hitec 645MG steering servo
Pro-line steering kit
Bearings upgrade
Jeep Rubicon body
Pro-line bumpers
RPM Rear body post

It has only just begun!

With all of the hop-ups that I read about on this forum.....I've got my work cut out for me :D

Well it certainly seems like your having a blast with the hobby already. I was hooked the first time i saw the Tmaxx video... when I head the truck hit 2nd gear I was like I need me one of these. I would not consider myself a fanatic when in comes to RC but I really enjoy messing around with the trucks and having fun bashing with others.... glad the site has been of help to you. There certainly are many members here with tons of knowlege when it comes to these things.

I have also went to a foward only setup and it does run so much better without the reverse. The only time I regret is when I'm stuck on something and I have to run my fat ass out there cause I can't back it up. I need the workout anyway...

sLY

Congrats on your new truck man, sounds like you got a really nice start on it. I was the exact same way when I first got my maxx, I waited forever to take the reverse out and try the foc. Best low dough mod you can do to a T! Only thing I regreted was I waited so long to do it.

I'm planning on converting one of my trucks to FOC...looks like the price is right with the 'Robinson Racing' parts...

Definitely worth it!!!

Ran it today for a little bit.....the throttle response and accelleration is a night and day difference from before!

I wouldnt even look back.......I would also suggest the Proline steering kit! Makes a world of difference as well....and gets rid of that stock servo saver...Turning is smooth as silk!

Boy, does that sound familiar....lol Glad to see ya gave the Nitro MT's a chance... I would strongly suggest replacing the front & rear bulkheads with Al. ones ASAP. I actually run the Traxxas Al ones, & have not had any problems with them. There are other overpriced, highend bulks out there, so look around..

Just too fuel your addiction a bit more... You really must try the 1/8th scale buggies.. You'll be obsessed, mark my word.... lol

No truer statement has ever been spoken.....
I am so hooked on buggies when I go to the track...I'm saving monster trucks for the fields and streets

Welcome to the Nitro MT world. I feel the FOC is a must for the T-Maxx and for obvious reasons. It's like a whole different truck once you get rid of the reverse gear. Looking at your hopup list it looks like you've got a great truck. I would 2nd the motion to upgrade the bulks. RPM A-arms would be a great upgrade too.
