Well I ran the HPI aluminum threaded shocks yesterday and they lasted all of about 15 minutes. The shock bodies are just too stiff for the soft shafts on any kind of big jump or crash. After swapping out the broken aluminum shocks for plastics I was able to run a little longer each time until eventually I broke 6 of the 8 shocks. I am sure they are great for racing but for bashing they stink.

SOrry to hear that man. Is there anything I can do to help? I am still using the stockies and the UEs. Well the UE's Is it an internal function that weakens them? Could you swap out the shafts for a sturdier one?

The shock bodies are just too stiff, so upon impact the shaft has no where to move and bends, unlike the plastic bodies which flex and save the shafts. I think I'm going to try and make some thicker shafts and see how they do. But at this point in time the plastic shocks are the way to go for bashing.

I've bent shafts before with my plastic shocks but nothing like yesterday. I'm sure for racing, the HPI aluminum shocks would be great with their threaded bodies but for bashing they don't stand a chance. I know all this info had been posted before but I just had to learn the hard way.

Yes I think the theory was proven yesterday. Every Al shock was bent and every plastic shocks lived.. For racing they would be the hot set up because of the percise tunability, but for bashing.. dont waste your hard earned money...
