hey guys, i have the supermaxx suspension and i want aluminum bulkheads. they keep breaking so i want to fix it. i have tryed the rpm bulk braces and they dont really help. the only thing with the aluminum a-arms and bulkheads are that there is no weak spot so that means that it will bend if i hit really hard. u guys got any ideas? or does anybody run aluminum a-arms and bulks?

bryan

well you just nailed the problem with al. it is stronger so it can take harder hits, but then you have the problem of it not having a weak spot so stuff will bend not break. it's up to you to decide. but do remember that you will be able to take harder hits and al doesn't bend as easily as plastic breaks (most of the time)

well, i have decided that i will be going to aluminum bulkheads. i was at my friends house today messing around on a 3 1/2 foot jump. well i thought it would be cool to go close to full speed and fly off of it. so i did, my supermaxx was about 15 foot in the air. when it came down it landed on the back end. went over to look at it, and i saw my back skidplate snapped off, both of the rear bulkheads were broken, and also before that i broke the front skid. and this was with the rpm braces in them

so i have came to the conclusion, i am going to get aluminum and see how it works out. i dont know which ones to get. there is the hardcore, GA, traxxas, and others. by the way does anybody got some that they dont want anymore?:naughty:

well if you want low buck but plenty strong I'd grab the american CNC machine bulks off ebay. $55 for front and rear with steel hinge pins and black oxide screws. they are SM polished beauty but they will get the job done. After you go with Al bulks with SM suspension the weak spot would be the pilow balls or hinge pins.

well, i dont want those bulks. i have heard they are cheap and bend really easy. i am going to go with great assembly's. i know many people that run them on the supermaxx's and have had some pretty nasty crashes. besides i got titanium hingpines and the titanium pillow balls from supermaxx

bryan

Reminder! If u do go all aluminum that since it doesn't have a weak spot something has to give. And it can break or bend something more costly in the long run than if it was plastic. At least plastic isn't that expensive to replace.

I did run aluminum bulks and arms. I bought them way before I gathered the collective opinion of this forum's experts.

Two weeks ago I bent an aluminum arm, tweaked an aluminum bulkhead, bent a hinge pin and sheared a hinge pin. Ugly business.

I'm getting aluminum bulks again but RPM arms.

i have taken that into much consideration. but, i would rather have a stronger truck than be braking my stock bulks everytime i jump. i know many people that run an all aluminum truck that havent ever bent anything and they do some crazy things. for instance, take the supermaxx guy, when he is testing his things he goes crazy with them.

wdavidhicks, we posted at the same time! lol, anywayz. what kind of aluminum a-arms and bulks were u running. all the guys that i know that run all aluminum have a supermaxx suspension kit and they run the GA bulks. they say them have never had a problem with them

bryan

I myself really thought about doing the same thing. But I'm afraid that I will regret it later on. Especially the way I love to bash.

i love to bash, and i bash hard. that is why i am going to go and try aluminum. if it dont work out then i will go back. but i am sick and tired of traxxas's cheap design and how weak there stuff is.

bryan

Amazingly I've only broken 3 stock parts on my truck. So far I've been very lucky.

i have broken almost every stock suspension part that traxxas made. i hate the company. that is why i am getting rid of the traxxas stuff on my rig. all i have to go now is the electronics trany case, and the bulks!

bryan

well, i have heard good things about the traxxas aluminum bulks but still i am going to go GA.

for the a-arms, my friend had the integy's he didnt really care for them. i think he bent 2 of them within a month of having them.

i have had the RPM a-arms before. dont get me wrong i like them but want something different and i got something different. besides when it is all said and done i am going to have a full blown supermaxx so it will be all aluminum.

bryan

Bryan?... You posted on that thread of mine where Sky, Eddy and Christian all railed me for having all aluminum. You read it, right?

Do you want some aluminum bulks? The rears are good. The right half of the front set is tweaked a few thousandths.

The american CNC bulks bend? first I've heard of it. they are completely solid and don't see how they can bend. HCR bulks or any bulks that have large open areas can bend though. I mangled the traxxas AL ones a long while ago in a bad crash into a pole. snaped the hing pin mounts off the bulks. I also bent some HCR ones jumping my maxx. if you have th money get the GA bulks though. the are the strongest next to the way too expensive SM VBS.

FYI.. titanium pillow balls are weaker than the steel ones.

wdavidhicks, i dont know if i did or not. i will check on that.

PM me about the bulkes. how much u want and all that stuff.
