Well I havent had much time lately to play with any of my trucks but one night I found a couple lots with aluminum parts and I started looking more and somehow went into a downward spiral of starting an aluminum build...I'd say I've got about 75% of it acquired and have about a dozen or so parts left to pick up to have a completed aluminum truck

Here's what I have so far:

I have aluminum diffs, alum shocks, and knuckles on the way

What I need to finish out all alum:

Trans, stearing mechanisims, body posts, servo mounts, skids, bumper & mounts, electronic boxes and a cage and of course I plan to upgrade the engine b/c that .15 is going to be sluggish but I need to rebuild my 2.5 right now but I will look at some BBs to install on it but that will come with time

ur gonna need at least a 4.6 to move that big old beast and what ever you do stay away from solid objects....but its looking pretty cool!!

Thanks...I got the diffs, knuckles and shocks in this past weekend and installed but didn't have time to upload the pix...maybe i'll get some time tonight to post them up...

pretty cool man, i have all but a few things aluminum on mine, it must way 50 lbs now lol... is urs the 2.5 or 3.3?

It's only about 6lbs or so...I havent put it on a scale yet...right now its just got a .15 sitting on it but I will upsize to i donno what yet once the truck is complete...I havent even run it yet to see how underpowered it's going to be

here are some photos of how she sits right now:

in my case i just dont have the bottom end that i used to, it still cruises right along but just a little sluggish now. looks good though man, good job. one problem i have though is the screws on all the aluminum back out way faster than on the plastic, i even glue them in place but thy still back out.

yea I'm going to have to go back and put locktite on everything with a good amount of torque (not enough to break it though) and if that doesn't work I may try to find some screws that have a mechanical locking feature in the screw to help with that if the locktite doesn't work
