I would go plastic....cheaper to replace. A good set of alloy rims will run over a $100 for a set. Bend one, you have to buy 4 more. They are rarely sold in pairs. So unless you have nothing but money to throw at the hobby (wish I did) I would go plastic....oh yeah plastic is a lot lighter too.
 
yeah I would stick with plastic.. I made the mistake of using aluminum rims on my maxx and I had to replace a couple bearings in the diff's from bashing and a couple drive shafts. sticking with plastic unless I convert the running gear and tranny to metal.
 
i hit rocks flip side over side (live on steep hill) the only wheels that have survived is fac. 4907 wheels, i would like to have a 1" off-set to make truck more stable...
 
Get the Traxxas Geode wheels. The ones that come on the Summit or Revo. They have a 1/2 in. offset which will make the overall width an inch wider.
