I have been posting regular updates on my Alpha Plus engine progress on my local club race forums, so I figured I'd post it here in case anyone is thinking about buying one.

HOLY CRAP! IT RIPS! It's still running absolutely awesome, tunes VERY VERY easily, and the runtimes with an 8mm insert are anywhere from 8-10 min on our track give or take. Depends on how heavy I'm on the throttle...since I ran it out of fuel in last week's main at @ the 8:30 min mark. I came off the main temping 225 with no shortage of power anywhere. For my last qualifier we leaned it out more then we should have, and it ran like a complete raped ape and temped at 247 after 6 min. Now THAT was a race tune! I just want it to last a bit longer so we richened it up a bit from that point.

Here are pics of the internals after @ 2 gallons. The orange crap on my pit towel is just RTV I pealed off the engine ;-)

She's looking good. I still have yet to get to the 1 gallon mark on my JL. I am getting 10-12 minutes per tank depending on traction levels. She keeps getting better though. I put a Trinity Big Boy pipe on it. It loves that pipe. Give one a try, it added a solid minute of runtime and still wanted to be leaned out more. Loads of smoke.

Get driving mister! I actually won my Sportsman Truggy race this past weekend....and took over the points lead in our local series ;-) I dunno man...everything just clicked and I just drove away from everyone...after getting a horrible start. I TQ'd, and got spun in the first turn....came out 5th out of 15....worked my way up and lapped 2nd place by the end of the 20 min main ;-)

LOVING the Alpha so far!

I just tossed a new Ascendency 4 shoe clutch on the Alpha...so we'll see how she does when I get to run her.

I ran it fairly rich for @ a gallon. Leaned it out for race tune now though ;-)

Feels good to win like that huh? Been a while for me, to many pros run at my track. I,m happy if I finish the race...My last race I was 6th out of 8 in qualifying, except the 3rd qual. I was holding on to 3rd running consistent happy as hell, then the rear diff went out....The old JL was too much for it!!lol
I have to race against at least 5 pros every race, kinda sucks. We do not have enough people running truggy. 3 classes of buggy, 1 class for truggy, 1 for Slash. That's all we run.

It sure does man. Now let's see if it was a fluke though.....next Points race is the 8th ;-)

We have a race on the 22 of May. They made our track the stickiest blue groove I have ever run on. Soft tires are worthless on it. I was running my medium compound Cutoff's, similar to a bow-tie. There was so much traction it felt like asphalt. You could pull full throttle with full control, we all had our brakes dialed up high. You should come down. It's not a big flowing track anymore, lots of turns and doubles right after the turns. It's easy to run but the pro's were turning 29-31 second laps to my 31-33 laps..

Damn that sounds fun, even though blue groove chews up tires. lol I need to get down there one of these days for sure

It's not bad on the medium compound tires. Mine are still raceable, the same ones I ran @ PNB! VP Pro tires are awesome.

I hear good things about the VP Pro stuff. I'm still running the same City Blocks I broke out of the package at PNB as well. Still look new!
