Being cheap with the air filter is a very bad idea. If you cheap out on a 10-15 dollar part, better be ready to fork over 100+ for a new engine.

Go onto Ebay and buy a stock airfilter assembly for a couple bucks. Spend a little extra money now to ensure that you wont be spending MORE money later replacing your engine/carb because something had gotten sucked in the carb!!
