ok i know theres been alot air filters but i didnt see anything on this can u cut the body and put the air filter throught the top of the body so it can get more air i was just wondering

you dont have to but I did, I cut the body right next to the airfilter so it could breath from the front and sides.

comon guys i dont want to turn this in to something and know this isnt the place for this but I'm sorry for the stupid crap i said an should of never said it I'm sorry

ahhh okay, I guess this isnt about the airfilter.

your post has been out less then an hour. You will get more replies

You could put your air filter outside the body, if you fabricated a new intake duct that reaches to the carb. But you are inviting roost from other cars, and damage from rollovers to allow dust/mud/whatever into your engine.

If you do decide to make large holes in the body, I have seen many people who attach pieces of fine mesh to cover said body holes, that can help block some of the debris from getting a direct shot at your air filter element.

If this alot better, there would have come out with something, like a filter built into the body. I say dont worry about and just drive..

I dont know if you'd get any more air or not with the filter outside the body.
You may get "cooler" air.
Putting the filter outside the bod is asking for trouble in a roll over. You'd probly pop it off on a good roll over and suck in some of the dust you've kicked up while rolling.

My 2c says keep it inside. If you want cooler air, i've seen some cold air intakes that move the filter away from the motor, but still keep it inside the lid.

If you want more air inside the bod, cut holes in your windscreen and side windows.

That is exactly what i was thinking... :hammer:

If I were to move my air filter anywhere, I'd duct it closer to the front of the rig so there would be less chance of catching all of the dust and anything wet off the front tires. I would hard mount everything so it wouldn't shake or vibrate loose or come off in a crash and still leave it under the body.

Your best bet would be to leave it where it is and cut out the body over the filter so more air can flow by it. Extending it outside of the body is asking for trouble and it wont improve the performance of your engine.
