Air filter oil

I'm thinking that filter oil is filter oil........we used to just use motor oil on the lawn mower filter. The "size" of the foam(density of it) is more important I am thinking than what oil is helping to trap the particles.

The K@N has almost the same consistently as after run. Looks the same. I've been using it but have not been anywhere dusty. The grounds been wet here since last summer. Paved driveway and road. Headin' to a mx track next week; figured I better not find out the hard way.

If the oil is real thin Matt I would not use it unless you have something like an outerwares pre-filter. The thick, sticky oil (Air filter oil) traps more dirt than thin oil. I personally would not risk it.

Thanks, frickenjoey. Makes perfect sense. Glad I asked before I hit the dirt. I have a motor saver filter coming from a buddy. Anything I need to be warned or know about them?

i use airtool oil, seems to work great. i also wash and reoil it after day of running.

Nah...motorsavers are good stuff. Just make sure you ziptie that bad boy on pretty good. I have also started securing the filterhead with a bracket or an exhaust hanger wire if at all possible just to make sure. I lost a heck of a good mill once when I had a hard lid landing that knocked off the filter..I had no idea it had came off until it locked up on me in the middle of the track. If I had it double secured it would not have happened. Just a $325 oospy.

Thanks a lot, Joey. I have a few old exhaust hangers lying around. Though if I ruined my mill right now, it would be a good excuse to upgrade!
