many factors:
where r u racing? what are you racing? are you bashing? driving on pavement?
if off road and very dusty maybe each run? get a extra filter to use while you clean one and let it dry. if on pavement maybe every few runs. again it all depends on running conditions. You can also use a outer saver pre-filter too.

this is the filter that I use: a motorsaver filter.

if your r/c is not listed send them a email to see what is the best suited filter!

cheers

Motor savers are awesome you can run on a single cleaning for like half a gallon depending on what your running on

not racing just bashing. I run a 2.5 and 3.3 T-Maxx. I run on blacktop and dirt. Not having an issue just thought I would start a thread on a commonly overlooked part. Just trying to pick everyones brain and see what everyone else is doing.

For me air filters are the most important in nitro world compared fuel brands, nitro content and oil content of fuel, clutch , gears etc... the life span of nitro engine depends mostly on airfilters. Dust can kill your engine in a few seconds. That's why I always had more extra set of airfilters everytime I'm bashing or in track.

The motor saver brand air filter with a pre filter on it has always served me best. And you should always clean your filter after every session. When I raced on clay back in the day. I kept several filter cleaned and ready to go. I switched them out several times while out on the track.

Every bash session. I always replace when done so when I take it out again its got a fresh 1 already on it. And I always have 2 on reserve that are clean as well. Theres been numerous times where I will lose 1 when it rolls over. Having extras is always a good idea. Especially seeing as how cheap they really are.

Depending on conditions (really dusty here) I tend to clean my filters after every session like Phins. More often if the outer filter appears dusty during a fuel stop.

well i just used a stock traxxas 3.3 filter on my dodge dakota 3.9 V6 for the crankcase breather. i put a after market truck air filter on the dakota engine. and it didnt have a place for the dakota crankcase air line.

When I ran nitro I cleaned after every session, and if its dusty, sometimes half way through a session I would put a clean one on. I would rather take the extra 5 minutes it takes to clean them, than take any chances.

I've recently started using the motor saver sock over my motor saver filter just for that lil extra. I was going to pull/stretch an outer foam filer over the outside of the savage motor saver filters then use the mesh sock also, but I couldn't find the right size....then there was the breath ability of the whole thing once I was done, then I forgot about it till I read this thread
