noticed yesterday while my truck was running there was a constant amount of air bubbles coming from the fuel tank to the carb.
surely this is not normal.
would this cause the engine to rev high

can someone point me in the right direction please

Too much air in the fuel lines will make your fuel-air ratio more lean and likely make your engine idle at higher rpms, as well as raise your engine temps. Check your fuel tank and lines for air leaks.

have ordered a new tank and fuel lines
will check it out when they come

I put a filter in the line between the tank and the carb, and hadn't run the truck for a while, and the same thing happened. I pulled the line off the carb, and the line off the exhaust, then used my cheeks to blow a bit of air to push fuel through the line. Air leak was at the fuel filter, adding bubbles while leaking fuel. It had simply become loose and was pulling in air.
