Ok i know i was born on the 13th but that's besides the point...

after buying the cen mini madness with a broke ESC a few weeks ago,i was atleast a little lucky that the seller will refund my money.....

so anyway i decide i want something quite small ,smaller then the cen ..so i buy a used team losi micro desert truck.. ya know the 1/36 scale ... it comes with a micro bb motor and the seller didn't have the original transmitter so got a hpi one with it.. i also got a rubican shell for my savage (which i always liked) and some batterys etc in this deal.

so now the pack arrives today... very excited as i was opening the box to see my stuff... i love how the desert truck looks and can't wait to run it... i go to charge it and notice a wire that was soldered to the motor has come loose..(broken off totally) but the other wire is still there...

now that upset me a little as i remember the box it came in with all the other stuff rattled and he didnt really pack it good... so thats how it may have happened.. anyway i charge the battery and hold the wire to where it came off and when i do that the wheels just spin like crazy without me pressing the throttle.. i put all throttle trims to zero and still does the same..

so i complain to the guy (whos from a uk based forum btw) and he says that there is nothing wrong with it to take it to my lhs... i say no way .as he advertised it as running well... and i asked for my money back..

so now he says he will send me another micro bb motor and to instal that.. but i find all this such B.S! i buy something to have fun and play with it straight away not to recieve it broken and then have to fix it...

man i'm so frikken pi$$ed

if anyone could offer me a suggestion on how to fix this thing i would really appreciate it.

Thank you

Just re-solder the wire onto the motor tab. These lil things are quite cheap, should just buy new.

i know about £60 for these but i got all that deal for £60, 4 x 7v batterys, shell with decals and this car with a few parts, transmitter and crystal.
i also wanted it cuz it had the upgraded motor not the stock one

thing is if i resolder will it do the same thing? as it spins when i hold it onto the motor. ?

Sounds like a reciever/ESC issue more than a motor issue. ESC shouldnt be pushing any voltage unless recieving a signal from the radio.

so heres where its broke..

forgot to add as i was testing it the red wire came off too!

Agreed. I'm new to the electronic stuff, but I've been wrenching for decades, and one rule I always follow is to make sure any and all connections are solid. Until then you're in the dark.

from the photo it looks like it could be re-soldered. Maybe you could replace that whole motor for a few quid.

hes sending me another motor.. should i wait to solder till i get the other motor?

give it a try. look at the online losi manuals and make sure you've got it right.

ok thanks i was looking for those.. does it make a difference if i don't have the original transmitter?

I tend to agree with alpine. I had a plane that once did the same thing, and I had less than an hour of airtime on it. It was the micro receiver/ESC that was cooked.

The transmitter won't matter as long as you have the matching receiver. Without putting the wire to the motor, do you have steering? If not, that's what you'll have to check first.

now that both wires are off i have no steering.. seems the red wire is for steering and the black is for forward/reverse..

where the ESC box is.. it is missing something on top, i dont know if you can see from the picture.. but usually on there is says team losi esc or something.. mine doesn't.. maybe its just the label ripped off or the esc is missing completly?? there is a box to put my crystal in does that mean the esc is present?

oh boy.... my head hurts :\

the red and black wire have no effect on the steering at all and ur label is just missing and ur esc is there cuz u have a place for ur crystal. i think u just got ripped off badly. maybe u could try a different set of crystals or a diff controller

hi reighard i tried a different crystal his was 26.xxx i tried a 27.xxx and 2 different controllers...it does exactly the same thing.

do you think i paid to much then? the seller said i could have my money back for the car if this other motor he's sending me doesn't work... but i paid £60 for the whole package with the other stuff he may try it on and say he'll only give £20 back ... when really i paid £40 for the car and £5 for controller + crystals.

well if hes only going to give u have of what u paid i would just keep the car and go brushless and if u do that u will get a new esc,new motor, new reciever, and servo for only $110 or 74 euro

How much did you pay in US dollars? I just about one a while ago from a member here. It's in really nice condition.

i paid £60 which is about $100 or $110 for the desert truck with micro bb motor 2 batterys for it and lots of spares..hpi transmitter and crystals. 4 x 7 volt batteries (the ones you use in rotostarts) and a v.good condition sprayed rubican body shell for my savage with decal sheet.

do you have a desert truck? as i would like one now and have been looking at getting one new from ebay...

that was with shipping included*

Um....I have a dumb question but here goes. From the picture it looks as if you've got your battery connected to the lead that your motor should be connected to...? Not sure if that was a question or a statement.
Also in your pic I don't see the connection/wires where the battery should connect, which should be coming out of the ESC/receiver just to the left of the xtal. That kind of looks like it on the floor.
The blue/orange wires are for the motor connection and red/black for battery.

Btw took a peek at your art/vids. Like it!
Brit accents make me smile:)

NitroJoe you are right the leads were pluged in wrong. and the wires on the floor is just to show you that they fell off when i got it..the black wire was already off, out the box then the red wire fell off...

it's meant to have a BB motor in there but it doesn't say 'BB' anywhere on it..it's just plain.anyway he's sending me another motor so i will get my soldering iron out and give it a go..hopefully it will work.

as for brit accents i think we sound sooo lame ... i Love American accents.i could listen to them all day :ahem:
