I've been using marvel mystery oil as a after run oil for about 2/3rds of a gallon of fuel my air filter popped off while I was running today and I didn't know so I pulled the motor and disassembled to check for dirt and clean it out there is some rust in in the bottom end of the motor would this be from the mystery oil

Uh, no. The rust would be from not fully running all the fuel out of the engine and carb, even if you run your tank empty there is still fuel in the crankcase, try to start it a few more times to burn any more fuel in the crankcase, then put after run oil in it and turn the fly wheel or the pull start a few times to lubricate the whole inside with the after run oil. If it is rust you see, it is a result of the ethanol evaporating from the excess fuel creating water, and of course NOT using after run oil. Use after run oil after you are sure your done running for the day, any thing longer than a few hours and you risk the evap of the ethanol. Btw, how did your air filter pop off? you were running with your top on correct? That is a must, to keep dirt away from the filter as best you can. Something had to grab that thing and pull it off cause those things are normally zip tied on there or firmly pressed on the carb, they just dont simply 'pop' off when your running.

Ok that explains y there is some rust bc I wasn't aware I needed to try to crank it a few more time after the tank was emptied. And after further inspection the inside of the case had no rust just the weight on the cam shaft and a little bit around the outer metal of the bearing I took it all apart and cleaned everything as best as I could and got most of the rust off which there wasn't enough rust to cause a big problem everything was still as smooth as could be. But yes I had the top on and a zip tie the only thing I can figure is that I didn't push it on all the way it came off after a high speed run that ended in it going flipping off the road across my yard landed on wheels and kept going then cut off after a run across some pine straw. When I went to see y it cut off the filter had come off was only ran for about 30 to 45 seconds with filter off but I didn't wanna chance any dirt being in the motor. Thank you tho u deff solved my issue but I did go ahead and order some actual afterrun oil which is on the way will use marvel if in desprite need but again thanks u deff solved my issue.

I have used Hobbico After run oil in all my 5 years of experience in Nitros. Have yet to be disappointed by it. Yes, cranking the engine with the fuel line disconnected or fuel tank emptied as if you were starting it up is always smart. You almost always get 10 or 15 revolutions from the engine burning that last bit of fuel in the shaft, then apply after run oil and crank it more, with the glow plug out. As well as applying some into the carb venturi to oil the shaft and bottom of the crankcase. These precautions will keep your nitro running healthy for many gallons to come! An after run treatment a day keeps the mechanic away!

u dont need to run the tank empty, just pull the fuel line off, and run the motor.

Thank you guys the info was much appreciated deff a help to me this is my first car and have had a great time with it so far just trying to learn as much as possible as I go

I have always pinched my fuel line till it dies, then disconnect the line, an spray it with wd40. And just cranked it a while
