In my manual it says to add some drops of after-run engine oil to the carburetor... however the guy at the hobby store, said I should remove the glow igniter and apply a few drops inside there and then put the glow igniter back... any ideas?

Also it says to spin the engine over a few seconds, how do I do this, just using the starter box? Or do I manually move parts around...

a couple of drops in the head, through the glowplug hole, and a few through the air intake. (the big whole in the carb where the air filter is)

Make sure you dont have any dirt around the glow plug when you take it off it will get inside the engine.........

It does seem dirty around the glow plug, what would be the best way to clean it? A rag isn't getting into the small area well...

I use a tooth brush or q-tips, what ever floats your goat.

Compressed air. Give it a shot of da(throttle body cleaner is a safe alternative) and blow it out. Q-tips are handy for getting the initial big stuff broken loose as stated above.

Thanks! I can't seem to find 'throttle body cleaner' anywhere is it a product?

Another Q, I can't get to the air intake hole because it has the rubber pipe on it... the rubber pipe is attached to the air intake with a cable tie so if I pull this off I'll need a new cable tie... that doesn't seem right so I guess I'm not getting this part 100%?

i personally don't use zip ties around the air filter unless i have problems with it falling off. most of the time if i do it is jsut loose enough to fit tight, but alow the cleaner to slide on and off.

You should always have a tie strap holding your air filter on. There's no reason not to. Throttle body cleaner is a spray solvent used to clean throttle bodies on 1:1 cars. Tie straps, zip ties, cable straps, whatever you want to call them, can be found in variety packs for real cheap. You can find them both at any auto parts store.
