The blue springs suplied with the shocks are shait! My truck did not stand properly even with alot of spacers in.:( I was not impressed. So I took the top and bottom spring holder things from the Traxxas shocks and used them with the red original springs. The AE bottom shock holders fit in the Traxxas ones to accomodate the red spring if you now what i mean. Walla I now paid for blue alli shock bodies and shafts:arrr: I think I got shafted myself! I personally think these shocks were not made for Maxx trucks its just unused stock from thr RC series AE trucks they are marketing and trying to get rid of! The shock bodies are also narrower and look prissy!

Sorry to hear your not happy with your shocks. I have these on one of my Ts as well. I have the Losi/Dynamite threaded body shocks on one of my other Ts and these also came with poopy springs, Seems none of the aftermarket shocks come with a decent set of springs. I put trinity blue springs on the losi shocks and did the same thing you did with the stock springs and retainers on the AE shocks. They do perform well in my opinion, so don't get too down about them, at least you wont be blowing caps anymore.

I was $8 short for Traxxas BB, but the extra springs would have cost me $16 more aswell. I converted to USD for you guys. Total of $24 I did not spend. Well I have harder springs for them aswell that I got for free. I am installing them tonight. I will test them tomorrow as well as my FOC.

Cool, I am sure you will be happier once you get a good set of springs on them. Let us know how you make out with them.

The FOC kicks ass, I only wish I had done it much sooner than I did, that was money well spent, its a great low dough hop up.

Don't regret your shock purchase. Given time you will find them to be an asset. If I were you, I would get 4 Trinity blue springs and put one on each corner and a stock red on the others. This seems to be the best all around setup for the AE/Losi shocks.

I Just spent BIG $$ on a set of piggyback shocks and had to trash the stock springs for them. Don't feel bad. The springs that come with shocks are like the picture you get when you buy a picture frame.
