RC Driving Style
hi just waiting for my savage 25 to arrive bought it second hand its my first nitro anything i need to look for or do before i use it? best way to start?
cheers

well a good inspection is always due when buying a used rc but you can tell if its been abused and neglected as a rule, check the airfilter to make sure its clean, inspect fuel lines "just in case" a gentle roll back and forth can give you a idea of the drivetrain and "diffs" condition if theres binding theres a problem and depending on how much its been used may be a good idea to start with a new glow plug as well, then just make sure you have fresh batteries and your set.....and if it still has the stock 25 diffs which are the 2 spider gear setup i would strongly suggest upgrading to the savage x style diffs in the future as they have the 4 spider gears and hold up to abuse much better...hope this helps a bit, take some pics when you get it and maybe we can help you a bit more when we see it!!!!

thanks for that mate will see if i can post some pictures cause i really dont have a clue till i look, are they fairly easy to maintain?

well the savage 25 is a bit different then the savage x i have, the x has the easy access diffs and stuff so you dont have to take it all apart but its still not all that hard...and if you have the manual, hpi's instructions are pretty good and easy to follow and if you dont have one you can download them online....

P.S. YOU HAVE PM

Wow, for a second hand rig that lokks amazingly clean! It does not look like it has been used very much at all, and it was well taken care of.

First off though, I would replace the air filter with a better two stage filter, something like a motor saver. Second, make sure it has a fuel filter, if not add one. Then just give it a good once over, check all the screws make sure they are tight. Especially the grub screws in the drive cups, they are notorious on that rig for coming out and then the driveshaft just spins while the truck goes nowhere.

Nice looking truck! The later 25's had the 4 gear diffs already in them but also the larger Motor Saver style air filter, I'd guess yours is an earlier production unit.

God point Racer. You may want to take the diffs apart and make sure it has the four spider gears. If not add them, or you will grenade the diffs.

thanks for you advice to be honest at the min going straight over my head not a clue until it arrives tody hopefully. where's the best place to download a manual?
