So i have cracked my stock rims and ripped two tires driving on red clay gravel

I'm after some wheels and tires that are light and strong for bashing

what would you guys suggest for bashing on red clay gravel will them bow tie 'type' tires hold out on such a rough surface? they look like they wouldn't last a few runs

i lived in atlanta for about 3 months, and took my revo to construction sites at least 2 times a week. i use bow-tie, and they held up just fine. after 3 months, actually, there is no sign of significant wear, and they grip great on that stuff.

as for rims... anything RPM.

I had some Imex Pinn Dawgs on my Revo and I loved them. Lightweight, good traction and they last. It's hard to beat RPM for wheels.

what size do i need on the bow ties?
what other surfaces have you run the bow ties on?

cheers mate.

the pinn dawgs look good haven't heard much about these are they light? what surfaces do you run on?
I do not like the look any of the rims on rpm bit to busy for me. right now I’m thinking of getting the disc type rim what’s the general consensus on them ?

I'm a basher so I ran them on everything LOL grass, dirt, loose dirt, blacktop, concrete. They are light and I didn't have a problem with ballooning. As for the disc wheels...I couldn't say, I never had them. If you want somthing a little more aggressive I also like the Maxx mulchers from proline, they are good off road tires but they get loose on concrete.

same here... everything with the bow-ties. as far as what size... you have 2 choices, your regular maxx size wheel, or the 40 series. you will have to decide which is for you.

thanks could you explain the two sizes for me i know the revo stock rim is 3.8"(97mm) what is the 40 series size?

velocity rims are nice. i think that link will answer your quetion. with the larger diameter, you will accelerate a tad slower, but have a bit more stability overall.

RPM wheels are good, but they only come in the maxx size. these will rub your A-arms slightly, but nothing to worry about. as to pro's and con's... /shrug.

OK, MW, have to take you to task.

Certain, and in my opinion, most, T-Maxx rims will interfere with Revo suspension movements, mostly at the extremes. (compressed, extended, full lock) Other than that, the overall OD is about the same on most tires and wheel combos. (note I said on "most")

Not trying to be negative, OK. :wasted:

Ya  I now know I can use some Tmaxx wheels :thankyou:

I was about to put my cloths on and drive over to the new home just to swap wheels with my friends Tmaxx to find out. Umm forget I said anything about not having...

Anyways, I'm seriously looking at the Proline Moab tires...anyone know if these will work on the Revo and what wheels will go with them? I have to do something, my Revo sucks butt on grass. Dang I got a small list of crap to order from TH...I'll be working for them here pretty soon

Got it :)

Now is a beed lock wheel something like those weld wheels that are screwed together holding the tire on? Also will those Moab tires work well on the Revo with it's unique suspension? I wonder why the wheel/tire selection for the Revo (seems) is so low? I mean isn't it like some flagship truck for Traxxas?

Thanks again
Tay

the moabs are my next choice in tire for my revo actually. they are a 40 series tire though, so you will need a 40 series rim. just go to tower and look up "40 series" and you will get a plethora of rims to fit those beasts. some have special qualities, some are just plain. you be the judge... unless you want us to drive it for you too =P

Shock-hater! :jk:

Ray, my apologies for leading you astray, my man! I neglected to take into consideration the suspension differences, I was thinking hex size and OD, so my mistake entirely. Thanks Rancher for catching that, I appreciate it, sir! I  to you!

SHOCK-HATER!!!!!

It's all good...I learned something from both yours and RR post about this subject which is what counts in my book:)

Well I'm kinda set on the Moab tires with the Monster clawz 6 spoke but it doesn't say if the Moab's will fit being a 40 series tire but I'm pretty sure they will. I got some issue of RC driver and they got a set of Moabs mounted on a set of those wheels for a Jato to bash in. I reallize the trucks are different but it should work on a set of Maxx RPM monster claw 6 spokes, shouldn't it?

Now my next mod may not go over so well with some people....I'm seriously thinking of buying a spool for the rear end :shy:

Thanks
Ray
