why do some people have their pipes on the side instead of the back??

From what I know its a couple reasons..

Larger choice of pipes if its mounted on the side.

Takes away the softening/weakening of the rear shock components

And I believe there are a couple more reasons but none that I can think of.

Scoob hit it on the dot. The variety of pipes that are available for side Exhaust as opposed to the rear exhaust is just greater. Tuning is more of an option when you can use a mid to top end pipe, or a low end pipe ETC.. Its the drivers preference. Doing this you willneed to modify the lid or buy a lid that accomodates the pipe on the side. I beleive that OOC Racing does have a lid to allow the pipe. I read it on XRC.

another reason for the side pipe, is the rear pipe is easly damaged if your running a wing and have a bad landing on the rear. i smashed my pipe twice before converting to a side pipe.

Depends on your engine and your style of driving. Bashing or Race?

that has happened to me a few times, then i eventually switched to a side pipe upgrade. now its even better , power wise and looks.

I think I will be switching in the near future going to try and make a rear body mount brace first, I have a 7 year old daughter and she likes too flip it back over when it is on the lid,afraid she might touch the pipe.
