saturday my daughter and I were out at the local off road track running my Mugen 5R buggy. It's the only RC I own and over the past few weeks I've been wanting a second. Well we go into the hobby shop at the track and I start looking at the Revo 3.3 they had on the shelf. After a little prodding from the shop guy and my daughter I bought it! :help: LOL

Of course a couple of my "hard core" racing buddies gave me some grief for buying a RTR instead of a $1500 (total) Mugen truggy or something. The thing is I wanted this so I could just grab it and go out in my back yard or down by the river to bash around and have fun.

Anyway we got home late saturday and I was a little busy yesterday so I managed to get it out of the box and it's sitting with my buggy waiting to be broken in. Can't wait to get home today and start it up!!

Other than the typical break in and reading all the info that came with it, is there any must do's with this thing?

Check the screws man. Make sure they are tightened down properly. RTR's may not have all the screws fastened down right from the factory. Check the glue on the tires. You may need to touch them up. THink that is it.... just have fun man.

ah good points I'll go over all the screws and check the tires. Speaking of tires, boy these things are huge!! They dwarf my 1/8 scale buggy tires. LOL

some of the revos has bits of plastic in the tank, i think they may have fixed it but it wouldnt hurt to check. other then that, smack a fail safe on it and bash it till it breaks!!! then upgrade to rpm... :)the revos are pretty tough stock, so you should have some fun!

Good for you.....let the bashing begin....of course read the manual watch the DVD....break it in right (I use the heat cycle method as opposed to the Traxxas method...they are similar)........and then Let her rip!!!

yeah I watched the DVD yesterday. I used the heat cycle on my Mugen. I think I'll give the Traxxas method a try this go round.

I may have to leave work early today!!!

Yea just cut out now.............its time to burn some NITRO!!!!!!!!

Ok now you got me thinking of ditching works..;)

Have fun with it man. Id check the wheel nuts for shure mine were loose when i started breakin.

I just got a Revo, must install a Failsafe and just follow the instructions, all is very well explained and documented. You can upgrade/customize later on.

Man I really need to get a couple fail-safes for my revos. I have yet had a bad runaway but I'm shure I'm long overdue.

ok well yesterday afternoon it started raining and a freakin monsoon moved through. Didn't stop raining all night. I'll have to try my luck tonight on the breakin. I did read the manual, went through all the steps to get it ready (checked screws, gas tank, antenna, tires, charged batteries, etc.).

I do have a question though, y'all keep saying to install a fail-safe. What exactly is that for? In my manual it says the optidrive has a new fail-safe feature that applies the brakes if it detects the radio signal failing to prevent runaways.

Is that the failsafe y'all are talking about?

sounds like it, seems the new one is built in. but yes the fail safe sets the throttle servo to a pre determined spot when the radio looses contact with the transmitter. normaly set to about half brake.

awesome, sounds like I'm good to go!

is it wrong that I haven't even started it and I'm already thinking of mods? =devil

I would say drive it so you can get used to the feel of a stock ride. Then when you upgrade you can feel the difference in the mods you add.

yeah, I'm going to keep it stock for some time. The only thing I'm going to do is look into adding a spektrum receiver so I can use my M11 and not worry about any other people. If I can even use my M11 with it.
