I just bought the JR Racing xs 3 and I love that radio.
What is a good fail safe that I could get for it. Is there any failsafes that have a meter or something on them to tell me if something has gone rong?
Thanks for any info, some one told me that some came with a meter thing.

I use the OFNA Mini Failsafe on all my rides. Its smaller than a quarter. Click here to see a pic of how I fit it into my radio box. (its the little black and red button thing)

Venom makes a very good one as well but i belive it is a bit larger.

Most will have a red L.E.D. to indicate whether or not the system has engaged. The new OFNA one ( I just installed oned ) went solid with no radio, and flashed when voltage was low. It has a button you press to set the failsafe position of your throttle servo. In other words, set the brake with the trigger on your TX and then just press the button. If and when it engages, that is the position that your failsafe will turn the servo to.

OFNA, Venom and MPI all make great failsafes. Currently I have just been buying Venom, but, the OFNA works just fine.

You will also need to make sure with the 3PK that you get the HRS version, along with all digital servos to use the function effectively. I have that radio, and it is awesome!

But pricey as all hel!

lol

I have a Ko Propo electronic set for sale if your interested in it. It come with a electrical switch(don't turn off like analog switch during a crash), Volt watcher, and fail safe. I paid over 90 bucks for all 3, let me know if your interested for $60 shipped.

If you don't need one that fits inside a receiver box the Venom works great. It has a red led that indicates a failure and slams on the brakes, whether it's low receiver battery power, loss of signal or (I believe) interfering signal.

I use the ofna failsafe. It has little red LED to tell u when something is wrong. It's also smaller than the venom.

Where did you get the Venom failsafe at wdavidhicks? My LHS does not carry them and Tower does not carry them either.

The 'new' venom also has a small signature like the OFNA.

Venom also make a good on-board temp gauge ;)

You can get them from Fields Hobby in Buffalo NY. Just tell him Chris from RCNitroTalk.com sent you. Ask for Jay, Doug or Adam and they will hook you up.

The should be in stock there.

Is it worth the money? I heard that sometimes they don't work and your ride still gets jacked up! I was considering one ( failsafe ) or even an onboard temp gauge, but till Ihear more good things on them I will hold off!!!

Id be pretty hard pressed to find someone that said they caused problems?!?!?

Dont get me wrong, when voltage is low, they engage a lot. You dont want to use them with regular AA packs either. Use a Nimh pack and you will be fine.

They only engage if they need to!

Unless of coarse you get a faulty one.........

Ok then I guess a new NiMh flat pack is due and a failsafe..not sure about the temp gauge..still pondering on that one!

I only bought one on-board temp gauge for my on-road. Just more ideal for that ride. The rest I use my gun. The one pain in the ass about onboard temp gauges are the batteries.....and batteries.....and batteries..... Did I mention batteries?

I've had my onboard now for about 2 months and have run more than 1/2 gal through my onroad and havent had to change batts on the temp guage once. I just make sure I turn it off when I'm done running.

you mean to tell me you have to manually turn it off when not in use? It doesn't turn off with the power switch?

Correct...take a look in my gallery you'll see the green temp guage by itself and how I mounted it on my LD3 in a seperate pic.

There is a small button to the right that turns the temp guage on and off to keep the battery inside the temp guage from running down when not in use. (not the receiver and servo batteries...they are seperate) Each time you turn it off it clears the memory for the next run.

The button on the top switches between the highest and lowest temps during the run and the bottom button switches between Celsius and Fahrenheit.

No - it runs on a watch battery. You wouldnt want it drawing off the same powersource as your ride.

Its an easy button to press.

Ok then maybe I will try it out Doing the h2o test sucks!!!
