i just got my ntc3, and on the batteries that go in the car, they go into a holder that stacks them into a cube, then they go into a space in the car, but is something suppose to hold them in place, it doesn't seem right to just have the sit there.

You are supposed to use a zip tie to keep it from falling out. If it falls out you will have a runaway if you are accelerating.

IMO get a 5 cell 6V rechargeable battery pack.

Iv got a Team Factory NTC3 and it came with a clip that you screw into place to hold a hump pack or the standard 4 cell pack. You can use zip ties or you can probably buy one of these clips. The clip part number from Associated is part #2252 battery mount. However, I strongly suggest getting yourself a 6 volt 5 cell NiMH flat pack battery thats at least 1500 mAh. Venom and Dynamite make some good batterys. I use a Venom 6 volt 5 cell 1600 mAh NiMH flat pack (VEN-1503) with a OFNA NiMH 110 volt charger (#10214) for it. Remember that the higher the mAh (milli-amp-hour) rating, the longer the battery will hold its charge.

I just got a NTC3 and have to say the battery hold down situation is pathetic. Every other car I have has a proper box to place the battery in.

I looked at part# 2252 (BTW, same part# listed for both RTR & FT kit), it looks like the bracket that came already installed on the bottom of the radio tray.

I like to run the hump pack style battery packs in my cars/trucks and have a spare charged one so when they run down I just swap them out. I change the connector on them so all the cars/trucks can use the same batteries.

It looks like I'm going to have to fabricate a more sophisticated hold down arrangement for this car to make the swap out easier. I'll post what I come up with.

I built my hump pack battery cover today.

I made the cover from 5051 alum which is easy to form. It uses the front screw of the lower battery bracket to secure it with a forked shape at the rear. I positioned the pack towards the front for centralized mass.

I also changed the connector to accept standard hump pack 3 pin connectors.
