Check out these pictures of my rear diff on my HPI RS4 MT. The shiny ones are brand new, the others are what fell out of the diff case when I opened it last night.

And all this time I was wondering why the SOB wouldn't run well in short grass or dirt and did just alright on pavement! Friggin' diff was shot to hell! Probably why it won't shift to second either!

Bought a replacement set for the front as well. Can't imagine it being any better! :nono:

Ah well, such is life! :stupid:

On my MT2 I stripped both front and rear diffs. Turns out there was a problem with diff gear lash. When I put the new gears in I used a shim kit to get the pinion closer to the ring gear. Might want to look into that to maintain proper gear mesh.

The HPI mt is an awesome truck but they eat diff gears. At $7.00 per set I always had at least two sets on hand. After I put some claw dawgs on it I had to change them about every half gallon. They need to make helical gears for it.
