I always thought it would be cool to mess with an RC boat. But it is always gospel "you must have a boat to retrieve the RC boat if it stalls or breaks down".

I know most here drive passenger cars or trucks, but not as much recreationaly as your RC cars and trucks.. What I'm saying, if I buy a passenger power ski-boat, because it is a recreational vehicle already, would there still be a place to fool with an RC boat?

Anybody out there with a real boat fooling with a RC monsterboat out on the lakes??

There is a lake near me that I've seen one or two people playing with an RC boat out on. They've always been out on the docks controlling the RC boat, there the lake is pretty calm as they are all no wake zones near the docks, outside of those zones I wouldn't want to run one.

You don't really need a power boat to run an RC boat. a small rowboat or canoe is all that is needed to retrieve the boat. I also know of people that just use a spin cast reel and rod with a tennis ball on the end to retrieve the boat.

So, you suppose one of those 5 and 1/2 foot models won't handle a small lake outside the break wall where 17 foot power boats come along occasionally?

I'd rather get a canoe, but my wife wants an 18' bow seater!

That's a risky but clever idea, retrieving with a bait caster. I used to live on the Great Lake Erie; I wouldn't do this there. Now, where I'm living, some of these lakes around Tennessee wind around like big fat lazy rivers and are very calm in many areas.

It really depends on the hull type. A deep-v hull should have no problems and neither should a cat. A hydroplane risks going airborne and out of control.

So I was shopping online for used boats for sale last night and one was described as a "convertible sedan"..
I figured the boat dealer was selling also a car, or, the boat had four doors! .....had to look.

Naw, it's a $300,000, 38 foot used yacht! The stupid thing didn't even have any doors on it!
It is a sexy ship, but I'm looking to spend a "little more money than that"...wish wish wish.
