hey all
I'm really sorry i forgot to mension my rx pack. I'm running a realy small, trinity rx pack at 1150mah (i think it may be the 1100). its very low mah, and to VO at 10-14min per tank I'm getting almost an hour and a half of run time, and no nothing binds, I'm very pleased in how i set up all my linkages(its nothing special it just works very well). i have prolines maxx steering kit and rpms big bearing carriers, so theres minimum friction throughout the linkage.

That still seems like a short battery life per charge. Perhaps a cell is weak and is dragging the others down.

What charger are you using?

(an aside) had the big Extra out yesterday. The folks our club shares the field with never showed, so we had the place to ourselves for the entire day. I put 7 tanks through that plane - @ ~20 minutes per flight. Batteries checked in the green before each flight. I discharged the pack that night and still had over 400 mAh remaining...

I'm using dynamite prophet twin peak for the e-maxx. its a nice charger with built in cooling fan and it peaks my batterys very nicely every time. my rx pack was always pretty warm when i took it off but maybe i got it to warm. i dont know ill find out soon enough.

Are you charging at the lowest rate that charger supports?
NIMH cells are not very tolerant of high charge rates. Overcharging them will cause them to heat up quickly, as any current the cells aren't able to absorb gets turned into heat. Once the cells heat up the voltage level drops off, and your charger will shut off because it relies on the voltage drop to determine when packs are peaked...

I charge my small NIMH cells (AAA, AA or A) at rates which are less than their listed capacity. For example, I charge my 720 mAh packs at ~500ma and 1650 packs @ 1A. Anything larger (2100 mAh - 4000 mAh) I charge at 2A.

It takes a little more time for the charge to terminate, but the cells end up charged completely. They don't get hot either - just a bit warm to the touch.

I just ordered a 1650 mAh 6V hump pack for my T-Maxx. I considered the ones from onlybatterypacks, but couldn't justify spending $35 bucks on it (and have no nead for another wall-wart trickle charger!) Got mine from Radical RC, for $18 bucks.

yes, I am a cheap bastard :D

sorry for this ? but do you need anything special to run digital servos like reciever wise or anything I have an older JRx2 AM radio (I THINK) and want to get some nice digital servos can i use this

Greenwing, keep doing your homework, use the search and ask your LHS, before buying another radio.

RC10 guy; says, "I don't think....." This has come up in another thread or two, but hasn't been confirmed or rebuked by anyone.

Another challenge for the RCNT thinktank.........

[move]Can you run digital servos on an AM radio?????[/move]

.08 sec at 127.7oz/in @ 6v HITEC DIGITAL SERVO HS-5925MG $70 shipped NIB for the throttle and brakes now to find a steering servo and a radio (duah the Jr xs3) which is "better" the 27 mhz or the 75mhz or will there be any difference between the two?

JR 8611 and you won't have any issues w/ steering again
Futaba S9451 for throttle
they cost more but in the long run it's less
I will NEVER buy another Hitec servo again they do not last....the first 8611 JR servo I got has not only lasted longer than any other servo I've ever had I got it used from a friend who raced it every weekend for 6 months it's had the wires cut and shorted out 2 times and still keeps going.....I bought 4 more since then and they are the only servos I've had 0 problems with

JR-650. I got mine for 45 bux. fine for my needs at that price.
