well I'm gunna make a order from tower in a few days to get 5or 6 things but i figured id thro in a servo too since i havent been happy with the steering since i got the thing but never really thought about buyin a hig torque servo but tower is out of stock on the Hi-tech 645 servos so is there another good choice out there for around 40-50

Screw waiting for in. Besides, that one is a piece poop servo. Try looking at the Airtronics 94358Z ERG-VR Hi-Speed/High Torque 200oz/in. Man this thing will turn the big tires from Hot Bodies. You know the 6.5in ones, that come with the Truckzilla kit. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

"Stock Status : In-Stock"

these have JR-style plugs as opposed to the http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXUZ90&P=7 which have Fut-J plugs.

The only difference between them is that the JR plugs don't have the extra plastic key that the Futaba plugs do. They are wired identically, and will plug into your RX and work just fine.

You could also use the Hitec 5645 servo. It's a couple a bucks more and has more torque. I use this one in my Savage and it works great.

Yeah, I agree w/ RR. Check out the Hitec 5645MG. They have two styles (J or Z). You can't beat 164 oz/in @ 0.18sec for $55. I just hooked one up on my Maxx and a friend has one on his Savage. I'm running regular sized tires, but he pushes the Big Joe's around with his servo. They perform pretty good on both trucks.

Strongly recommend using a nicad or nimh rx pack if you go this route. Digital servos are capable of drawing a bunch more current than analogs - especially under load.

Dry cells don't live long when required to supply (relatively) high amperage.

thottle hs 5925(130oz/in at 0.10) and steering hs 5945(185oz/in at 0.15) both digital and both killer servos and i mean killer but, the nimh rx only lasts like 5-7 tanks.

VO, makes a good point about the digital servo's. I use a 6V 1800mAh Flat Pack for my receiver battery, so I have no problems with power consumption. But it is definitely something to keep in mind b/f making your purchase.

Domination, if you were interested in a receiver pack, I happen to currently have two of those receiver packs for sale. Check out the For Sale Forum.

You can also check out the Hitec Faq page about their digital servos. It might answer some other questions for you.

Bigboy, what mAh are your packs?

dude!

kill

OTOH something's seriously wrong if you're only getting a couple of tanks per charge.

I've got a DP Extra w/ HS5945s on all surfaces except for the choke and throttle - (two on ailerons, two on elevators, one on the rudder) I use a single 2400 mAh 6v nicad pack. When cycling it I am only using about 1500 mAh in a day of flying.

(day of flying == 45 mins of aerobatics practice and ~20 minutes of cruising around)

assuming a 1650 mAh NIMH pack feeding two servos you should be good for a couple of hours, easy.

is your steering servo binding?
are you sure you're charging the batteries fully?
(what charger are you using?)
perhaps a bad cell in the rx pack?

edit : a thought. Is this a "hydrimax" pack? With panasonic cells?

i use the 5625 servo..has 135oz tq and a transit speed of .14 sec at 6v for 48$

Not to rain on the digital servo with rechargeable batteries parade, but I run dry cells with my digital servos. Guess what? I have run between three and four gallons of fuel between battery changes. Either I don't steer much, or I have magical batteries. Either way, they do work.

thats crazy (bot good) that you have them last for that long..but still..i noticed a big increase in torque/speed in the servos when going to a nimh pack.

hey all
I'm really sorry i forgot to mension my rx pack. I'm running a realy small, trinity rx pack at 1150mah (i think it may be the 1100). its very low mah, and to VO at 10-14min per tank I'm getting almost an hour and a half of run time, and no nothing binds, I'm very pleased in how i set up all my linkages(its nothing special it just works very well). i have prolines maxx steering kit and rpms big bearing carriers, so theres minimum friction throughout the linkage.

i have a 1200mAh hump and it lasts me all day and am expecting it to last almost as long onc i get a new servo

i run trinity 1150 mah nimh packs in all my r/c's. have never ran out of juice while out bashing. leaving the switch on by accident is a different story lol
