I went and hung out in the shop with my Grandpa over the fourth for a couple hours, just the two of us (we have to escape from my Grandma to get any talking in LOL). He spent his whole working life designing, and building the templates and cutting heads for a furniture factory. He's also got some nice toys in his own shop, and loves making stuff, so he gave me this. It's a home made candy machine (I'm fat enough Grandpa) :hehe: I treasure this stuff like you wouldn't believe, and beg for these things every year at Christmas, while all the others ask for money.

Oh my god that is AWESOME!!!! Hand crafted at that even!

By the way, what ya watchin? :hehe:

That's cool. I was the same way. The only thing I asked my Grandpa for was a chess set that he had carved by hand.

I was very close to my grandad. When i was young i always plundered thru his stuff to look at his purple heart from WW2. He also had a 9mm luger with original leather case and a box of shells with german writing on it and a german officers sword and sheath he got off a dead german officer. When he seen how much i loved looking at the sword and purple heart he told me when he passes away he wanted me to have them. Well he passed in 2000 and it really did a number on me. I believe i actually went into a deep depression from it for a while. I have his purple heart in my curio cabinet and to this day i enjoy taking a glance at it and remembering the good times he and i had. The sword is in our gun safe along with the luger. The luger was appraised a couple years ago for over $1800. It will never leave my possession. I would like to have the sword appraised as well. Its the coolest looking sword I've seen and also will always be cherished because it belonged to my granfather. Things he left me are the things I'm most sentimental about in life.

The whole thing is cool BUT the base of that is beautiful!

Thanks everyone!

Very cool. I'm lucky if I can cut a piece of board in a straight line. Very nice skills your grandpa has for sure.

I'm so bad a carpentry I had to hire someone to renovate my house.....it's been 3weeks so far and boy am I glad for camp jobs at the moment, free room and board, plus if I miss supper I have a key to the lunch hall, down side is that the lunch hall is 4blocks from my room, my room is closer to a lake the other morning we seen bear tracks in the sand
