These are all related to the T-Maxx 2.5.

1. If it takes 3 minutes to start the engine, what could it be ? (with ez-start, new plug, fresh fuel)

2. If the engine "bogs down" and cuts out when I press the throttle.

3. What exactly does the HSN do ?

4. What does the LSN do?

5. What does the idle screw do ?

I have a rough idea what the needles do, but i'm just looking for clarification.

Thanks

-Matthew

The needles control air/fuel mixture. If your bogging, you have to make small adjustments(probably richen) until you notice it getting better. The idle screw, well, controls the idle(how far the slide stays open when off throttle. Do you have the manual?

Actually if it's "bogging" it will need to be leaned, not richened. If it is starving for fuel, then you would need to richen it.

Matthew, are you sure it is bogging? If so turn the hsn clockwise in tiny increments, try running it, if it gets better, even a little, you are going in the right direction, keep making iny incremental adjustments till it runs good, and still has a nice stream of blue smoke coming from the exhaust. If it gets worse turn it back the other way. If it runs good when you are hard on the throttle, but bogs badly when you first give it gas, your lsn will need to be leaned, but again, yo need to know if it is bogging or starving for fuel. You adjust the lsn pretty much the same as the hsn, tiny increments, and clockwise to lean, counter clockwise to richen. The idle screw should be set with you holding the brake on the radio, making sure it stays open aprox 1-2mm. If you don't have a temp gun I highly recommend you get one, this is one of the most important tools you can have when tuning a nitro engine.

How can I tell if it's bogging, or starving ?

Also, when it comes to my starting problem, i took a video. In the video the engine is already primed plenty. If I run the ex-start like in the video for about 2-3 minutes it will finally catch. I hope some one can help.

The spit test is put a little spit on your finger and put in on the cooling head and if it boils you are over heating. I had that same problem with mine not starting so I bought an new easy start and put it on and took mabye 15 seconds to start. JMO. It could easyily be a air leak.

The endine; mabye I don't know but its worth a try rite. Just check the screws on the head exhaust manifold etc. etc.......

maybe its your blue wire leading to the glow plug not heating it up. get yourself a glow plug ignitor. i had a similiar problem. turned out the blue wire on the ez start wasn't lighting the plug always. so now i just disconnected it and throw on the ignitor instead

So i'ld have to use the ez-start and the glow plug ignitor the same time, how would i prime the engine ?

Stick your finger over the exhaust stinger for a second at the same time while trying to start it, is how you would prime it.;)

sounds like the glow plug is not heating up to me....mine sometimes does that (loose wire from being taken on and off too much) try pulling lightly on the glow plug wire while spinning it over.

Just get rid of that wire. Glow ignitor's are $20 with the charger. Good investment. Getting rid of the blue and yellow wire cleans the appearance up, too.

How about you just swith to a pull start much less of a hasle, or is that what you said?^

Why would you do that, I think pull starts suck.......I love my spin-start backplate that I have on my LST2, just a few spins with the roto-start and away you go !:D

Two other thing that will inprove if you get glow plug ignighter is that your EZ-start battery will last longer and your motor will spin faster when your trying to start it which will make it easier to start.

The glow ignitor is for heating the glow plug. Nothing to do with how you spin the engine. It locks on to the glow plug to heat it. Your starting process would be; prime, put the ignitor on the plug, spin it with the ez start.
