I took my revo out today and from the start it didn't seem right. The idle was high, when i gave it the gas a big puff of exaust came out but when i was just driving slow there was nothing, the idle was decreasing in speed and last but not least it died out every 2 or 3 high speed runs...

So, I came to ask the professionals.

1. Why won't my idle speed decrease?

2. What is causing it to die out?

3. Should I rotate the tires on my revo? (I noticed they were uneven)

I ran it the day before and everything was normal, the temperature is about the same, its the same kind of day so I dont think that has much to do with it.

Thanks in advance.

I changed my glow plug and I'm about to go and test it. I'm Thinking it could be the reason for the inconsistances. (SP?)

changing the glow plug might solve your problem so try that first and let us know how it went.

as for the tires. your revo is 4WD so rotating should'nt be necessary. but your alignment should be adjusted according to tire wear. let me know if you need to know how to adjust camber, caster and toe adjustments and what kind of tire wear your having.

I normally don't see a trail of smoke below 1/2 throttle. It's when you get above 1/2 that you really want to see the smoke. From what little experience I have so far with my nitro, I've noticed that a 10 degree change in air temperature doesn't make much of a difference on my tune, but if there is a significant humidity change, that seems to impact the tune more. I live in an area that the humidity fluctuates quit a bit and I have to make small adjustments often. It's getting easier to figure it out, using a temp gun made it a whole lot easier, just knowing that I'm not over heating the motor too much.

I haven't been able to get to a comp for a while sry. As a matter of fact I'm on my iPod. When I changed my plug it ran a lot better, but as I was tuning it started to rain. So I'm trying to get it out soon. My tire treads are unneaven it causes it to be unstayble at high speeds. I like to do donuts so it wears the sides of the tires down cosiderably. I'm going to put on some new street tires. I might buy some new offroad ones. Thanks guys.

Just as an FYI, doing dough-nuts, while cool to see can be very hard on your drive-train. Do a couple and then drive away, you can easily strip a differential gear otherwise. :)

spoken like a true revo owner. its not really to fun a job either rebuilding diffs. i didnt mine once. and now there RRP diff gears in there now. =]

Damnit!! I knew I should have upgraded to something better! I put the Traxxas replacement diff gears back in, although it came with an extra piece to help strengthen the diffs...........so far so good.

Hmm, How does it strip the gears? I Don't do them going fast just when I'm trying to burn off the rest of my gas in a small space.

Also when doing turns at high speeds on pavement wears down my tires... I want some upgrades...

Not sure how it wears them down so much, but I've rebuilt both the front and rear diffs already. :D It chewed off the tips of the output gears on the right side of the truck.
