I recently purchased a crashed T Maxx. It was suposed to be 90percent there. Turns out more like 70. The questions are: 1) How do I tell if mine has or has rverhad reverse? I was told it had it, but was also told a lot of other things that were not true! 2) Would you keep reverse if it was so equipped? ( I was told there is an elimination kit. I would consider this less parts/less problems theory. 3) And if such a product exists, where can I get one? Thanks in advance for any input!

There is a kit which eliminates the reverse gears, it is a FOC (Forward only Conversion). There are 2 different kits that depend on what Maxx you have. The older 2.5 kit is different from the newer kit because the transmissions are slightly different. Just do a search for a Tmaxx forward only conversion.

If the 3rd servo is there and attached to the rod coming out of the front of the trans then yes it still has reverse, aditionaly, the servo could be gone, in that case just look for the shaft coming out of the tranny, also with reverse removed the turning the spur gear will move the driveline, the foc kit is probably hands down about the best mod you can do to a maxx, its also verry inexpensive,....your lhs should have the foc kit, otherwise ebay is chock full

I don't have it, but I'd like to have it one day. It's a great feature.

Ok. Thanks for all the info. It does have reverse and the only kit my lhs had was for a revo. They said it is not the same transmission. The guy also told me to leave reverse in it, but I believe he was just trying to sell me on a $165 3 channel radio. At that point I politely said thanks and left the shop. I go the bulk heads replaced and the body painted. Waiting for engine and everything that makes it go!

I am going to get one from one of my e bay sellers. Thanks just the same!

Does anyone know where I can get a schematic for the clutch/flywheel assembly? I searched but could not find any. I'm sure it's out there. I need to see how many washers there are and part numbers.. I ordered a clutch bell gear with bearings and a e clip but it had no washers ans it is a bit loose on the crankshaft!

go to the traxxas site my friend ,there is a lot of info over and exploded views.

Um... Thanks so much! I guess I was not looking in the most obvious spot! 1985 is the part num I need. I am taking the wife and kids to get pictures tomorrow, it just so happens to be next door to a Hobbytown! Thanks again!

Before you put it all back together just check the bearings first , if they feel a bit rough it would be a good thing to change them now before it becomes a problem

Ok. The kit I bought was brand new, it just did not have all the washers. Thanks, great advice!
