I got my savage 2 months ago and i do not like it because i can't get the temp where it is to be and when I'm driving it at high speeds and i turn it rolls over and the batteries are hard to put in and i plain out do not like the savage truck at all now i will sell every thing that came with the truck for $300 dollars and the truck is in very great shape and after every run i cleaned it and besides the couple dents on the head from all the roll overs it has had it is good .

Your horoscope for today:

Temperature is usually a tuning issue.

Monster trucks will roll on high-speed corners.

Many members love their Savage trucks.

Your tolerance threshold seems low.

It sounds like you take care of your equipment.

Someone may jump on your offer.

Your punctuation needs improvement.

You'll get a more detailed response than this.

Boy! Guess you don't like it do you? Of course it will roll with high speed turns if you have a high traction surface, it is top heavy as is any monster truck. The temperatures are most likely a mixture issue generally meaning too lean. I feel temps are way too much an over worried about issue unless they are really extreme. Hard running will heat up any engine, even a full sized truck or car. If you bent on selling the Savage, you will probably find a buyer for $300. I'd buy it but I'm broke.

If you are going to be in the world of nitro you are going to have to learn how to tune. I was scared of it at first but the article I read in my RC Car Action really demystified tuning a nitro engine. The biggest thing you need is patients. Once you find the sweet spot it will be worth it.

The following chunk of info was posted by NA in a previous post. I liked the information so much that I made a Word document out of it, printed it out and put it in my field box. So when I am having problems I will take a break from it, read this, and go back to the problem at hand.

===========================
If there is one thing I have learned it is that every engine will start. There are only four things that make a nitro engine run:

Fuel
Air
Compression
Combustion

All of these things must be in effect to start. So lets check them out.

Fuel: Can you see the fuel going from the line into the carb?

Air: Is the carb opening, is the airfilter clean?

Compression: Is there compression? If it is a new engine you should be ok. You can check it by manually turning the flywheel with your thumb, it should be almost impossible to do.

Combustion: Have you checked the
glow plug on the igniter while it is out of the car, and made sure it glows bright?

If all these things check out than it can only be one thing: You need to adjust the mixture of the fuel and air.
===========================

The Savage is a very cool monster truck. Once you get the engine tuned you will be having a lot more fun.

Mr. Hicks
I am only 14 and have been trying to get the Savage to do all that it's supposed to do.
Why the trucks has gotten me down, is that the temperature goes out of control 380* and have a hard time getting it down the lowest is 250*.
The truck runs great other than that.

Could you please give me some tip on this truck? I would love to keep this truck, but I'm constantly at the truck shop trying to get it to adjust properly.

What type of nitro gas do you use and what percent?

Is there a way to make the suspension more stable so that it doesn't roll so easy?

Is there anything I can do to make the temperature come down and be in control?

Sorry about my writing and puncuation, but i'm still learning in school.
Sincerely Savage

PS Would love some input!!

To lower your engine temperatures you are going to have to do two things.
1. Richen you carberator mixtures. Follow the proceduer in the engine manual.
2. Possible go a little easier on Full Throttle for any length of time.

To stabilize the truck you can try changine the shock oil (instructions are in the manual on how to put them together. Yo reverse the procedure to take apart.) The stock oil is really thin and 30W to 40W is actually better.
As for rollovers when turning. That yu need to learn how to brake and turn to prevent it. That takes time to learn.
You learn by driving only as fast as you can control the R/C. Speed will come by itself as you learn. I know going slow isn't really fun but you have to learn or all you'll do is wreck and get frustrated. I hope this was of at least some help.

u still got the truck? i am trying to find a savage and if u got it i will take it!

Re: Reply from person who wants to sell Savage

Larry and McVick offer good advice. Your truck should be tunable. I see you're in Detroit, MI and the daytime temps look like they've been in the seventies. One thing that wasn't mentioned, make sure your truck body has vent holes. It never hurts to cut another hole in your windshield in front of the heatsink.

As far as the rollover... It's a monster truck. I have a Maxx that I set up for bashing and jumping. 50wt oil in the shocks, stiff springs, high ride height. It doesn't corner for poop but boy, is it fun to launch.
