RC Driving Style
i just ordered my savage and it should be coming in a few days.but what are cvd's?

CVD's are better driveshafts I think insted of having plastic ones you can buy some CVD and have metal CVD's thery are just one piecr insted of like on the T-maxx they have plaxstic sliders well you can replace them for cvds and get rid of the plastic sliders and make it one solid thing.

CVDs are Constant Velocity Drive shafts, and yes the Savage comes with them stock.

CVDs(constant velocity drives) are driveshafts that are either made from Steel,Aluminum or Titanium. They don't flex or twist like plastic or nylon driveshafts.

Don't CVDs have a universal on one end and a dogbone on the other? As opposed to strait dogbones....

The stock DBs are ok until you start beating on your truck, then you'll start breaking them. The stock DBs are weak and brittle for hardcore bashing (IMO). The HPI silver HD DBs are good, but titanium is proably better. I think hot bodies makes the universal type CVDs, maybe others also.

Correct! HB, GPM, Dynamite and MIP make CVD's. Stock are just dogbones. There is definately a difference. Dogbones, by themself, are more prone to breakage and wear. CVD's are not. Less slack and steadier performance are the bennefits of CVD's whereas dogbones are less expensive to replace.

Ups and downs to both. But either way, if you just want to replace the dogbones with better ones, the HPI silver set are an inexpensive way to make your driveline stronger. CVD's will be even stronger than that and perform better, but you will pay much more for the set.

CVD is a term that refers to a more rigid shaft. While the CVDs that are sold are equipped with a universal joint on one end and a dog-bone on the other, the "dog bones" that the Savage come with are also a CVD.

It is all about limiting shaft flex under high torque or acceleration (either running up or slowing down). The metal "dog bone" or CVD is much more rigid than the plastic slider shafts on a T-Maxx or any other plastic drive shaft out there.
