I have a friend who has been trying to beat our previous record of 52.9mph and he did it. He also has a killer crash at the end where he hits a tool box full of tools, the radar gun and camera, it all survived a 50 mph strike and the savage popped off a shock and tie rod, no real damage. Enjoy.

LOL, it scared me too, I wasn't expecting it, had the lap top on full screen right in my face and WHAMMMO :whhooo:

Not too sure how the radar gun got the 94mph reading, but it took a solid 50mph hit lol.

It must have been the velocity of it flying through the air or something along those lines. There is a lot that goes into pulling something like this off, the gearing is 20/44 and he plans on going even taller as it appears to pull it with no problems. Below is a link to the discussion thread and all the steps that were taken to achieve the 53mph, I hope it's ok to post it.

Judging from the sound and how quick it’s getting up to speed I believe with taller gears a few more MPH shouldn’t be a problem.

The speed on the radar was most likely due to the gun spinning when hit and picking up a stationary object.

It's already at the limit with the tranny, second to third is maxed out so going to taller gearing will move the shift points down and may fall out of the power-band. The solution will be to find stiffer shift springs so he can get some adjustability back. I thought about that Snook Man, it must be what it was although obtaining 94mph from a 50mph hit is crazy, and it still works lol.

That’s one of the biggest obstacles to overcome when dealing with a 3 speed and that many rpms of the primary shaft. The stock transmission clutches just are not designed for that many rpms. I went through a bunch of different springs/rates (the availability of that size spring is hard to come by) in my 3 speed just to get decent shift points and still have some adjustability geared for about 82mph. I’m sure I will need to try a few more different spring rates and maybe even reduce the weight of the clutch pawls once I unleash the power of those 2 Novas with your pipes mounted and get close to the 100 mark.

Just an FYI when messing with two speeds and springs, I actually used those white hard rubber o-rings (they are really hard can't even be stretched.)

I cut a tiny section a bit shorter than the length of the spring and it actually fits inside the spring, it let me adjust my shifts point much higher to the point that it wouldn't shift.

This was on my HPI RS4, I assume the savage may have the same spring size in the clutches.
Also cutting a bit of material off the clutch pawl helps if you're looking for higher engagement.
The o-ring spring add on + cutting the pawl had my car going into second at 77-80mph.

if its 3.5 wat is your current needle setting

if your friend had been at the bottom of the hill running top to bottom rather than bottom to top. i bet he may have gotten 55mph out of that rig. 53 is still VERY impressive coming up the hill
