Ok, so right now I'm powering my tmaxx with the 4 AA battery pack. I get a day's use out of it.. but i dont want to keep buying batteries.. and I'd rather now buy rechargeable AA's for it either. I know the revo has a setup with the 5 cell battery pack.. and I'm almost certain that you can buy the "hump pack" for the tmaxx. Has anyone done this? and what will I need to do ?

This is the highest run time you can get from a rx pack for our trucks short of going lipo is a 1600mah NiMh pack Cost: $17+shipping http://www.maxamps.com/MA-1600-Receiver-Pack.htm I get about 2 hours run time out of it maybe 8-10 tanks fuel(Thats conservative I don't want you to be disappointed) The traxxas switch/wire harness for a charge port is Part# TRA3034 my LHS had one for 5 bucks.

You can omit the wiring harness if you know how to solder.

Cut off the plug from the hump pack. solder the hump pack to the on / off switch where the old 4 AA battery holder used to go. Then solder the pigtail you removed from the battery pack to the extra set of "posts" on the switch. This is now your charge pigatil.

I have done this to all my tmaxx's.

I have a hump pack on mine and i just attached it to the chassis where the old battery box was. I got a switch with a charging plug on it so i can use the traxxas charger.

This is true but for 5 dollars you can save yourself some time and you still have a alkaline back up.

I dont think you will save any time completely rewiring the truck from the receiver.

Also if this is a worthwhile upgrade ( it is ) why would you wanna go back?

You can also resolder the battery box to the switch (again Y would you wanna go back?)

If you don't have a secondary battery and your pack goes dead your down for the count. If your out bashing/racing I'd like to have the alkalines so in the event my pack goes dead I can still bash with my friends. I personally believe the hassle that's involved with the switch contacts being spring loaded when you reassemble the switch and that the internals are tight for additional wires I believe you're further ahead to buy one for 5 bucks. Sorry for being opinionated I do understand where knall is coming from and don't want to argue.

It's nice having a four cell holder for a back up. They come in handy for testing electronics, too. I've had great luck with the tenergy packs I bought over a year ago. I beleive they're 1400's. More power than the trx 1100 packs. You'll love the response from your servos.
