a friend has a 5.9 in his SS and we have gone through the tuning over and over again we can get it to idel and throttle and all that good stuff but can not get the wheels to stop spinning and when we set it down it will die i am thinking that the Aluminum Clutch Shoes might be part of the problemand maybe they might be ingauged all the time and that could be the problem but have not looked at them yet is this a problem with this type of Clutch Shoe or something that i am missing and is there a better non Aluminum Clutch Shoe
out there that will work??

thanks.

It's okay that the wheels spin when they are off the ground. You want it so the Savage doesn't move when its on the ground. I'm not sure if that's what you're asking.

I thought aluminum was the best for clutch shoes. You can use other clutch shoes like carbon, teflon, etc. You may want to check that all your springs are fine.

The wheels should spin at all with a proper idle speed. If they do, the clutch is dragging creating heat and prematurely wearing the shoes also excess heat ruins the clutch springs.
Sounds like a broken clutch spring, bad bearings, improper CB shimming, worn shoes that need debured or replaced.

i forgot to say the the motor is new out of the box and it started this after the break in,

i would have to go with what Scrogg said,

we did check the idle needle it is fine as well as every thing else the only thing we have not checked yet is the clutch shoes he is going to look at them and let me know after every thing else that is the only thing i can think that it can be wroung,
i have not had this problem with my 4.6 and i have had to adjust it a few times after i got it used and had to do the adjustments for my area.
that is what was and is buging the heck out of about this 5.9 i have read and read the manual and thats why i came to the point that it was some where in the clutch.

just hope we can get it going this week he is getting more than a little upset over it but i think i can get it going whith all the help that you all have given me.

:)thanks:D
