they suck unless you are doing it as a novelty...the rear steering is done w/ a separate servo mounted hanging off the rear.....the dual servo works great if it's only going 20mph or less....but when it gets going and takes a cartwheel it gets all smashed to hell.....don't waste your dough.....I have a half (assed) finished chassis I was customizing to do a stronger set up w/.......gimme a few years and it will be done.....just in time to pull eddy's new chris-craft.....

Plaid, i have a feeling that the chris craft will never be done ( Ed, this means you need to prove me wrong!).

yeah it's going the way of my 4ws design...I'm down to 2 new steering turnbuckles for teh proline steering kits and I can have a roling chassis.....I tried 4 times to make th elittle bastards by hand and I F'ed em up every time......after I get ALL my RCs running all th etime I'll pick that project up again...hell it took me 8 months to build a truggy.....this should take me a few years

the issue isn't the fact they use a separate servo but that they mounted it on the back hanging of the rear of the truck....it's in a very vulnerable spot and it will get tagged just driving around....when you do the rear steering it's real unstable and rolls over alot whil you are learning it.....I'm doing one where the linkage runs underneath the chassis next to the ladder braces from one servo....it leaves the 4ws on always though but I'm limiting throw via the positioning of the linkage to the rear on the servo horn...... just to give it a little tighter turn radius...I did have to make new ladder braces to do mine...then you drill a few extra holes in the chassis so you can take 2 front ends from a t-maxx and bolt em on the chassis....simple design and I hope one day to finish it......I originally wanted to design a race truck that turns on a dime and can use locked diffs....but then I got into better RCs and decided I'll do this up like a warthog from Halo someday...HPI has a body that is similar to one and it will be a novelty RC then....

I saw somewhere, might have even been here where a guy made a 4ws moster GT. He only used one servo and the rear was progressive. The more you turned the front the more the rear turned, but it wouldn't ever have the rear as sharp and the front. I'll have to look it up and show u guys.

That's basically the way mine is....all I did was connect the rear steering to the servo horn closer to the center of the horn...the front would be connected on the outer most opposing hole.....simple and durable

yep looks ver similar to what I'm trying to do....My only issue is the steering links (pro-line kit) need to have a 90* elbow instead of going through the post straight.....I tried looking at every stinking steering kit in the LHS to see if I could just mod one...I have steering kits for RCs I don't even own now...so I decided to just make em...but doing little parts like those w/ the machinery I have is a beotch.....

Nitrobuzzard, I believe I still have the mounting brackets from the 2coolrc 4-wheel steer kit. If you're interested let me know. I'll have to dig through some stuff but I think it's layin around somewhere.

well, after some more research and from what you guys have told me, think I'll drop the idea and leave it as it is for now. maybe in the future when I have a stock maxx I'll try it.........the big block maxx is a handful as it is without the probs of 4WS added to it.......lol........thanks for all the info..........
