:\what does it take to change my t maxx 3.3 4909 to a 4908, i picked up a chassis and a forward only gearbox for cheap, i know the centre driveshafts are different but is that really it, I'm looking forward to doing this as it will give me practice and a better knowledge of the car but dont want to start it if it means changing loads on the car.

Should be just the chassis, shafts and lower braces. I'm unclear on exactly what to do with the brake. Might wanna upgrade to the 4908 steering while you're at it. Somebody will chime in with more details for ya.

I have done a 4909-4908 conversion..

You'll also need the newer brake setup. If the gearbox you got is from a 4908 you're good. If not, you'll need the larger output shaft.

So,

Chassis
Braces
Center Shafts
Brake
Output Shaft
Body

Its not really worth it money wise, but like you said its a good learning experience...

cheers revo your always helpfull, much appreciated:first_place:

Ya the brake is quite a bit different...On the 4909 the brake rides on an aluminum hex that bolts to the center shaft. On the 4908 it rides on two pins that are attatched to the drive yoke of the center shaft. Compare them on the traxxas website and you'll see what I mean.

just buy a 3.3 not one part on my .15 is stock all 3.3 save a ton buy a 3.3

4908 chassis, half shafts, center braces, while its apart revo spec drive shafts, rpm arms, 4908 axle carries, 4908 turnbuckles, gray bulkheads...... i just noticed after i did it all i had a whole new truck

Going from a .15 to a 4908 would be much more expensive, ya....

I honestly couldn't tell you exactly what the 4909-4908 conversion cost me, but it wasn't much more than a hundred bucks, and the body is a quarter of that.

Ebay is def your friend on a project like this.....

halfway through the conversion and so far has cost me £50 all i have to buy is a body which is £25 so all in all is worth it for the experience i would say, evrything is so cheap on ebay america, I've just bought the 2.4ghz set up for £60 on ebay america but to buy in britain it is close to £150, ebay is the daddy for spare rc parts:D
