tonight i cooked my savage xl to a whopping 390 degrees. I'm kind of worried i might have realllly screwed up the insides. idk if i should take it apart and look I'm kind of afraid of the bad news though. or maybe ill be fine? what do you guys think?:\

How does it run now that you have reached that temperature? Might be able to help better if we got some more details.

what fuel are you running also. some fuels protect more at higher temps

Your temp gun is probably off. My trusty Raytek just let me down recently. It was reading 250 when the engine was actually 200F.
If you did get it that hot, throw away the glow plug.
Yes tear it down and inspect it. The main bearings have a plastic cage in the K series engines. It can't handle really high temps.

i have not run it since. i shut it off immediatly and havent gotten a chance to take her out again. i have the dx3s and it read 390, idk if its off it was always accurate before. whats stopping me from opening up the engine is that i dont have any oil. when i go to put it back together i need to oil each piece right? also i have a nice ding in my tuned pipe from a crash. do you guys think that could be hindering my performance a little?

Don't worrry about the oil, just be careful reassembling it. You can use grease instead if you have some.
Dings in pipes affect performance some, but the HPI Polished pipe is not that great to begin with.
To remove a dent from a pipe plug all the openings of the pipe and fill it with water about 7/8th's full. cap off the end and pop it in the freezer for a couple hours, the dent will be gone.

You know i have never thought of that. That would work perfectly to reshape it. I just bought a rigg (isn't here yet) but it has a dent in the pipe and i was banging my head off the wall tring to figure out how to get it out. Thanks Scrogg!!!

No problem just remember you do not want the pipe to be too sealed. When the water freezes it expands a lot. I had 2 inch icesicle hanging out the end of mine when i removed it from the freezer.

thanks for the tips. I'm going to waterprofof my electronics take off the engine and d a thorough cleaning. hopfully shell comeout looking and running brand new. we"ll see if any engine parts need to be replaced

Seal up the engine while your at it, especially the MSN. Just smear some high temp silicone right over that sucker. MSN are worthless.
