i use the big joes on my savage xl, excellent all around tires. some come pre-mounted, some dont. they take 17mm hex heads and look really good on the xl.

I would try the 40 series masher tire. They get way better traction vs the big joes. I have big joes and I like them for looks but they aren't so good for grip.

if you can find a set of 40 series proline mulcher tires there some of the best bashing, all around tires as well. I use them on my savage x.. there pretty awesome in the grass, sand, snow, garage roof..lol

i didnt gear down for my 40 series wheels, i ran the stock setup for a long time.. i changed it recently to a 14t bell

When you were running the stock setup with the 40 series did it struggle at all? Does it perform noticeably better with the 14t bell?

it ran pretty well with the stock setup, with the 14t bell i havent had a good day to use it. its been starving for fuel. so once i get a good test in with it, ill let you know.. seems to have great power on low end, where it needs to. Its not like you can actually control it when your wide open in 3rd gear, so thats why i went to a lower bell
