I'm thinking about getting some new tires/wheels for my Maxx, and I really like the looks of theses ones:

It's got a 3.3 with 58T spur gear and 18T clutch bell. Will this power the bigger tires efficiently? Or should I go with the 2.8" size?

I saw some pictures of some 40s on a Maxx, and I read that it might cause a loss in performance because it takes extra power to spin them. I'm thinking I'll probably go with the 2.8" instead.

once you get it going you will actually have a faster top speed, but it takes longer to get there. i think they are more suited for BB trucks

It's a basher truck so I don't really want it to have a sluggish takeoff. I like it to have a pretty quick takeoff so it'll do wheelies. :D

no tire out there gives more traction to be able to do a wheelie but they definately take some power to get moving

Well, apparently the stock T-Maxx tire is a 3.2", so the 2.8" Trenchers might look a bit funny. I've never bought tires for it before, so this is all new to me. I might just go with the 40 series and a different gear combination, then upgrade to that bigger engine I want when I have the money.

I put 40 series Big Joes on my Max and love them. Great traction on grass, dirt, and pavment. They are wearing very well. Just drop a pinion size or too and you'll be fine. Top speed may be down but if you just bash around who cares.

I don't think I've ever had my truck at top speed. The most space I've ever had to run it in is probably a 100 yd x 40 yd area.

I run the Proline 40 series MOAB's. +1 on the slower takeoff higher top end but I can live with that over improved traction and cornering ability on asphalt. I find the tires have less rollover on the sidewalls vs. the stock. Also with the wider contact patch and 1/2" offset wheels I can corner faster without rolling the truck. I am soon going to replace the pinion to regain my acceleration. :D

I run Moab xls on my 3.3. I also have rpm trutrack and A-arms and axle carries all the way around. I geared lower to gain the acceleration back. had to do a few minor tweeks but i got it ripping. Wheelies on demand without loosing too much top end. Also dont have a problem at all with temps
