RC Driving Style
Has anyone else thought of 4WS for their Savage. Has it been done already. If not why not. What problems will it cause.

Seems obvious advantages of tighter turning circle for those of us without reverse.

Rear track arms and uprights are the same as front steering arms.

What would be best?

a second servo mounted behind rear uprights.
or
a second servo in reverse servo tray with long steer arm.
or
rig up some sort of long steering arms to current servo.

hmm, maybe it will just weave all over the road. never seen a clod buster but wasn't that 4WS how did it handle?

any suggestions or help advice whatever. post it here i want to know more...:naughty:
 
No reason why it wouldnt work as the 4ws tech has been around since lat 80's early 90's I'm not sure of set up on savage as to where to put servo .. but you will have to limit amount of travel the servo can go probley no more than 5-10 degrees if you went full turn then it would be quite wobbley ...
the dodge stealth and the new chevy truck use 4 wheel steering so do some of the old tractors ... good luck and show us some pics when done
 
I have been thinking about it for my own, the lower skid plate has the same holes as the front one, i think if a micro servo was used and mounted low on it, and some type of servo saver set up used it would work, the trick is findign a way to get a 4th channel on the radio, i wan tto be able to control the rear steering seperat of the front so it can be like a real monster truck so u can drive it in different ways where the rear tracks diff than the front..
 
ok will have to find a way to put two servos on one channel the rest is just a bit of hacking around and i have a spare skid plate from when I broke my bumper mounts.

btw. I have the weaker steering mounts that were later replaced now that I have broke one do I just send it back and wait for the updated replacement. I think this is how its done in the US but what about UK.
 
I'm in the US so i dont know.. i have already broken 1 of the new style though.. what a mignicificant carash it was too :banana:
 
I finally broke a front drive shaft yesterday :( was fun doing donuts for a while tho:)
