What can I expect? How does the 5.9 do in the 4.6 platform? I picked one up new in the box for $120... Also have a set of xl rails.... Also, how is the Hpi 2.4 hpi radio, I picked it up for $50.00, brand new...

I've heard that the 5.9 is under-powered and prone to leaks. But for that price, it may suit you just fine. I'd do a complete seal job on the engine, install it, and follow the break in procedure from the manufacturer.

I thought it ran good in my xl.. I had one person tell me that it was insane in their savage X, but I guess I will have to see for myself in a few days... But you are correct MetalHead, the first thing it will get is a thorough cleaning and a seal job..

I have that set up and it is indeed sick in the 4.6 platform. You can gear it quite tall eg. 47/19 and it will still lift the front wheels where I had to have a 16 bell on with the 4.6 to get the same performance. So ya it is a big upgrade. It will flip over contantly with anything smaller than a 18T bell.
Try it out and see what you think. I love it and the motor has been bullet proof. I even ingested some sand and after tearing down and cleaning it never missed a beat. Absolutley no problems...........yet.

Thats what I'm talking about...Thanks Boody, I can't wait, I will try that 19 tooth bell...
