For the first two gallons of our Savage...I've taken the reactive approach. That being fix things as they break. We have driven it pretty hard (okay..VERY hard) and for the most part it's proven to be durable.
At this point, I'm ready to begin trying different setups. I typically tear down our race vehicles and then rebuild them after each race. I've yet to do this to the Savage (as we don't race it)...but am going to in the coming days.
Is there a stock setup sheet for the 4.6?
1. I'm thinking of introducing a sway bar. I like the roll center on it, would like to assist with high speed turns...before jacking too much with cog.
2. What is a good diff setup for off-road? I assume the stock is grease-filled?
3. What are the stock f/r shock oils? I like the dampening...but will try a few different oil/piston setups...so need a baseline. Springs seem okay, might go a bit stiffer for better jumping off-road.
4. This is my only vehicle with a slipper clutch....so trying to better understand how it augments the centrifigal clutch. I'm running the stock composites (assume they are 1.00 springs). What clutch setups are you running for loamy conditions? Right now am experiencing dynamic stumbles off-road, so wondering what a recommended setup is.
5. Tires. I like the stock tires but they are too hybrid. What are the best tires for low-bite, rocky conditions....AND, what are the best street tires?
6. Finally...how many gallons are you guys getting out of your 4.6?
Sorry for all the questions....just wanting to get the best out of our Savage. As you know, even the smallest changes make a world of difference...and while I can tell you most anything about 1/8 buggies and truggies...no where near an expert on MTs.
