3men were going the share a room for a night. The cost of the room was $30. Each man paid $10 and went to their room. The hotel manager made a mistake, the room was only $25/night. He gave the cleaning lady $5 to give back the the guys. She was unable to spilt the $5 evenly so she gave a $1 back to each man and kept $2 for herself. So each guy paid $9 and the maid got a $2 tip.

3x9=27
27+2=29

$29 WTF they had $30 to start. Where did the. Missing $1 go?

If it was $25 and each got a dollar back thats $28, then her $2 tip. Right?

You don't add the $2 maids tip to the $27 paid by the men,it is already included.

$30 (initial payment) = $25 (to clerk) + $2 (to maid) + $3 (refund)

OR

$27 (net payment) = $25 (to clerk) + $2 (to maid) Plus each man has $1 in their pocket to equal the original $30.
