so i burned up my last 40T spur and all i have left are 36's, the 40 meshes easily and only strips on hard cartwheels and top landings. so i have a 36 on now, i ran it literally for a tank and started to get erratic performance. took a closer look and it made a small slit in the air filter tube. do any of you revo guys run into the same issue with the 36 i mean to get a mesh i have to have the engine pretty much at full tile to get a proper mesh with such a small spur.

If you bump up to a 15 or 16t bell it should make things a bit easier only problem will be you will loose a bit of acceleration and gain more top speed .
As for the air filter I would look at a motorsaver air filter as they have a better designed neck to keep it away from the spur

You really shouldn't be stripping spur gears as much as you are, somethingis definitely not right here. Are you putting thread lock on your on your engine bolts? Do you maybe have your slipper clutch to tight?

I'm more of an electric guy, maybe someone with more nitro really help you.

the engine mount bolts that attack to the bulkhead and the 4 bolts that attack to the frame all have blue lock tight. the two longer bolts that fit horizontally do not have lock tight but are always tight after each run (i check them after a spur strips also). now is it possible to reto fit some nylon tubing with a hose clamp around the carb inlet and shoe glue to attach the air filter housing to at the other end? i just hate how the air intake tube goes over the spur, seems whenever there is some flex on that area i.e a landing on top or rough cartwheel the spur strips always. I've taken mailbox posts head on not at WOT really and havent striped a spur or damaged any transmission gears so i dont think it has to do with the slipper being to tight, they just always strip with a rough "accident".
